...what color is it? We are painting ours next week and I wondered if people tend to lean toward a certain color. Whether it be because you just like the color or it's a cheerful color?
Ours is white, but only because we haven't painted since we moved here (8 years ago) LOL! The room is only 10x10", and mostly wall-to-wall with educational charts, maps, dry erase board, etc. So, it's not TOO bad.
That's a good point...now I remember why I put off painting...I was thinking most would be covered anyway. You may have just saved me a weekend of work. lol
I never repaint. OK..but I did with our old school room...just because I LOVED the Restoration hardware Silver Sage paint.
Our walls are dirty white...we are replacing dry wall...lol. I found this article that you may be interested in. http://www.ehow.com/how-does_4570805_color-affect-learning.html
We have just moved again (*sigh*) The school room in this villa is a cream colour ( rich cream), but I have painted a red feature wall.
In our old house we had a computer room that we sort of used as a school room. The kids still liked to be all over the house doing their work. And it was a dark goldish yellow color.
It depends on the children themselves. If you have high energy children, I would go more toward the cool colors because they have a calming effect. Orange is the color of being courageous and bold and active. Yellow is the color that stimulates memory and joyfulness. Green is the color of nature, security, and health. Blue is calming and peaceful. Personally, I like a toned down yellow-green (lime) with blue or teal accents. Lime is the color of spring and youthfulness. It stimulates awareness of one's environment with a playful nature. The blue or teal accents are like pockets of water providing visual areas where a child can focus calmly.
