It was a BREEZE to install.

My daughter did her Math with no complaints.

    I love this! :D

I was able to borrow from a friend who used it last year. That helped a lot. I did have to purchase the extra workbook/answer key. But finding that you could probably do it without the workbook. I am glad we have it b/c the computer we're using isn't hooked up to a printer so I can't print the gradebook or anything.

I love their philosophy that they want it to be "shared". I really do. When I called them and said that it was given to me by a friend and I needed an authorization code, they didn't say anything other than "GREAT". They were REALLY helpful. I was worried I'd run into a problem installing it, but I didn't. I was so happy! :D

I do plan on buying the CD's so that I can have them when my middle is that age too. We're waiting on math 3 to come out later this year, and I'll be investing in them. They do have a good resale value too...I find that they sell fast (especially on ebay). I'm hoping if we purchase them, that we'll get lots of uses out of them!

    :)

You will make about 80% or better on the purchase price from Ebay. So the way I see it is that I get a rebate of $160 bucks after one year.

Gives it a whole new perspective.

How old was the computer you put it on? I have a computer from 04 or 05 in our schoolroom. I need to make more room on it by transfering all the pics to disc so there is room on the drive, but do you think it will run on that computer? We are supposed to get our TT set this week.

    Thanks!

This is from the TT Website regarding requirements:
What are the system requirements for the CDs?
    A.
    For Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, and Pre-Calculus:

The system requirements for PCs are

A CPU of 133 MHz or faster
A Windows 98 or later operating system
    A 4x CD-ROM drive
    Speakers
The system requirements for MAC are

A CPU of 211 MHz or faster
A MAC OS 9.0 or later
    A 4x CD-ROM drive
    Speakers
For Math 4, Math 5, Math 6, and Math 7:

The system requirements for PCs are

A CPU of 1.0 GHz or faster
A Windows XP or later operating system
    256 MB RAM
    A 4x CD-ROM drive
    Speakers
Math 4, 5, 6, and 7 are not yet MAC-compatible; however, Math 4 will be MAC-compatible by September 1, 2009. The MAC-compatible version of Math 4 will have these system requirements.

A CPU Processor type of: G3 PowerPC / Intel Solo
Processor Speed of: 500 MHz / 1.0 GHz or faster
    Mac OS 10.3.9 or later
    256 MB RAM
    A 4x CD-ROM drive

I think it will work fine. Ours is an OLD (and I'm thinking older that 2004/5) E-machine with Windows XP on it. My dad "souped" it up for me by increasing memory and stuff. I know for sure, though, that my machine's processor was NOT 1 MHz. It's working, though. I'm imagining that it's slower than it's supposed to be...but so far, so good! :D

    HTH.

Thanks for the details! That should easily work for us if I get more memory opened up in the computer!

We've loved it, too. Thanks for sharing that about getting the new authorization code. We needed a little extra time to save $$$ to buy TT6 for DS1 this year (thankfully, he had about 20 lessons left from TT5 that have carried over so far). I keep hoping to find a really good deal on a used set of CDs, but I was worried that getting a new authorization code would be difficult.

So...anyone have a TT6 CD set they want to get rid of cheap? ;)

We are loving TT too!!! I will never ever use another math program... well we still use living math things as well (Simply Charlotte Mason's business maths, the Family Math books and some other game books and games we have), but as for an acutal curriculum TT is it for us! Garrett, the one who hates anything school is LOVING it too!

Kari, I got a used copy (thanks Dawn :) ), you just call them, tell them you bought it used and they help you get it going. Very easy and the lady was very very nice.

This is the first time I haven't heard a peep from my kids about doing math....Checked their scores the other day, all 85% or better on EVERY lesson and 95%-100% on every quiz. :)

I let my son use the site to see if he liked it and now he asks to go to do math! Before, math was his second weakest subject. I am in the market for a set, which isn't cheap but I think it is worth it!
