This all stems back to a time when we lived in AZ and my husband was out of town on business. I was home alone with the kids. We were robbed (we were out at the time, but came home to the house broken into).

I am now, irrationally afraid of staying alone in the house overnight - even just AT night.

Anyway...my husband is out of town and I had arranged for my sister to come stay and she flaked out on me.

I know I should fear nothing, but it is one thing to say that and a completely different thing to do it.

Please pray for me. I am beside myself terrified to stay alone tonight.

    Thanks.

I used to be afraid at home without Freddy too. It is an awful feeling. I got over it, but still remember how it feels. I will be praying for you to have a peaceful night. Beth

I made it! First time in over 6 years I stayed by myself! I can't believe I made it! I even slept in my bedroom and not on the couch! (I thought I'd be too afraid to sleep in my bedroom.). I did leave lights on downstairs but it was dark upstairs.

    THANK YOU for praying.

I will likely have to do it again tonight. My stepfather is supposed to come tonight. He's kind of a flaker too - although he's never NOT shown when my husband's gone out of town. We'll see.

At least now I know that I CAN do it if I have to do it. Usually my husband goes only 1 night trips...this one's a little longer.

Thank you for praying...please pray for tonight too - just in case!

Ever thought of buying a dog? I used to travel all the time, and having two loyal dogs in the house gives me some degree of comfort about my wife's safety at home.

Neither my husband and I are dog people. We've discussed this before and decided that right now it's just too much more added responsibility to care for a dog. We do have an alarm system. That gives me a little peace. We also do live in an extremely safe part of our neighborhood. We actually had a false alarm last year - and when the cops came he said "wow, I've been on the force for 22 years and I've never answered a robbery call on this street before". So...that made me feel good. We're on a very busy road w/ businesses...they'll hit a business before they'd hit us b/c they'd get more apparently.

Anyway....I do think we will eventually get a dog...just not sure when, breed, etc.... I hate poop. LOL :D

LOL I know the feeling. I'm not a dog person, and my husband is on the road all the time. I've thought about it but I just can't handle the extra workload with four kids already.

When my husband started traveling, I used to feel awful. I used to....shh don't tell...lock my bedroom door. I felt bad because my kids were in their own rooms, but I also knew that it was *very* unlikely anything would happen in the first place (and nothing ever did), but it made me feel safer. Although sometimes I brought the kids in to sleep on my floor.

I feel for you. I was afraid of staying by myself too. Then a week after I got married my husband left for a week, and we lived in a BAD neighborhood! I got over it, and you will too, it just takes practice!!!

    Praying for you tonight!

About 11 years ago, we moved to a very bad section of town. We moved here, just my dh and I, because the Lord had led us here for a children's ministry. My dh works a lot of nights during the winter months and some summer. I was never afraid. I trusted in the Lord to be here and guard me. About 5 years after we moved here, Elijah moved in and then about 4 years later Gianna. So many people have asked us - aren't you afraid, and as I looked back, I can say no, I never was. Just recently, I was wondering why and I wanted to ask some of the people that are out at night if they ever saw anything weird about our house when they were around it at night - like angels or guards, something like that, but I don't have the guts enought to ask - I used to live in a nice neighborhood and came home from work one time and someone had broken into my home and I did feel violated and weird that someone had been in my home. Prayer helps and I will pray that God will help you overcome your fear.

I'm glad to hear your night went alright. The internet is great to bring people close just like they are next door, in cases like this, I wish we really were and could come over and hang out with you!
