He's not coming! DS was talking out the trash this morning and that kid was out there throwing glass bottles at the dumpster. When the bus driver pulled up saw him she said something to him. That kid told her to F--- Off and ran away! The police are out here now looking for him as we speak. The sad thing is this is a pretty good neighborhood. Not great but no crime and such. It's kind of strange to see the police out here so much for this one 8 year old kid. What will happen is sooner or later the owner of the house will ask his mother to move. Can't wait!

Good! Glad he saw for himself what you were saying!

Don't wait for the owner to ask the mother to move. It's next to impossible to do that. She can yell discrimination, for one thing. I'm not even sure you can not renew the lease unless you've a REALLY good reason.

That probably depends on the state. In Missouri it's super easy to evict someone and you need almost no reason.

While I understand the party decision completely, I can't help but feel very sorry for this 8-year-old. It's clear he needs a father figure in his life, someone to love him, guide him, inspire him, set an example, and simply spend time with him. Instead, he has nothing to do and simply causes trouble. If the current situation continues, we all know what will happen as he grows older.

You're right, and I didn't mean to imply that.

You didn't ;) I just meant I agree with you, but under certain terms....NOT at the party.

If they keep calling the police, looks like eventually DHR would step in and take him away from the mother, if he doesn't land in juvy hall first.

I was initially going to suggest that you invite him somewhere else first...But, after reading about all the other things he's done, I am very sorry that you have to explain this boy to your son.

I wish I could help him! I'm sure the mother feels attacked when you go to talk with her. Maybe try befriending her when there is not a pressing problem with her son?

Although, you can't risk your family's safety...

We had a bully that lived in our neighborhood for awhile (their house was repossessed--Yippee!) who taught my son all kinds of bad words, threw his shoes down a gutter, hit him a lot (though my son is big and thick skinned, so never any marks)--I just said he couldn't go out to play when that kid was out there. He would stand in the middle of the cul-de-sac and wait for people to come outside to terrorize. His parents did not speak english. We socialized away from home and invited the other neighborhood kids into our yard and home. I never budged after my son came inside one day and said, "Mom, what's a faggot?" and now he's gone..WOOHOO!=)>

I guess the blessing is that you get an opportunity to explain to your son how and why to stay away from some people--from foul mouthed vandals to strangers in the park...Though it would be nice to heal everyone, you have to protect yourself first=)

I have not read all the responses. However, I would feel like you do. I have had to tell kids to go home before...no biggie. I had to send a kid away for lighting firecrackers in my yard. lol. As far as a party....if the kid is not invited the kid is not invited.

Here's a compromise....if the kid comes by then let him be your dh's responsibility since he thinks it's ok for the punk to be there. lol.
