I saved like $500 on Adobe InDesign. I sent in my HSLDA membership card and a copy of my Driver's license and they approved my eligibility the next business day. Plus I got DS this writing software called Inspiration 8 - it is a whole writing promt software that has hundreds of brainstorming templates and it will turn their brianstorming activity into an outline automatically. Then once they have the outline done, it will put it in paragraph form. Now, this is a writing program my kid can handle. I also got another program called EasyBook Deluxe which is a software program that lets kids write, illustrate, and publish their own stories. My son has NEVER written fiction before EVER - so I am so excited to try this stuff out. So, just FYI - the academic discount applies to homeschoolers and it works! I can't wait to try this stuff!
This may be a dumb question but where exactly did you go on the site to apply for the discount? Thanks!
Something worth noting is that Adobe is the only company I'm aware of that allows you to use educational versions for profit even when you're out of school. Most companies like Microsoft explicitly state you cannot do this but adobe has taken the opposite approach and explicitly says you can in their FAQ. You can order adobe products directly from their website and there are lots of online stores that sell academic versions. To be dealers they all must follow certain pricing restrictions so their all about the same price.
You just put the stuff you want in your cart (it is already discounted), check-out, and then fax, e-mail, or snail mail your documents to them and they approve your order. I wasn't sure it would work at first, but it did. And it wasn't bad. They don't charge your card until your order is approved. Funny thing too - I have an affiliate account with them (for my website) and I just got a notice today about saving an additional $50 with a promotion code. I don't know if it applies to me (because I am an affiliate and typically you can't get affiliate savings or perks when you purchase from the company through your own link) but I think I will call and ask them tomorrow. $50 is $50. I want to buy my son some animation and drawing programs for Christmas too.
Is there a website with information on what discounts are available to those homeschooling? I was going to google to find additional discounts but thought I'd check for a better resource
Well, I looked at the Academic Superstore site & found lots of items I would like to purchase but I'll just have to make me a wish list for now. Thanks for sharing it ColoradoMom!!
Every major software company from Microsoft to Adobe to Apple will give student discounts to anyone in K-12 and College as long as you have proof. This includes homeschoolers. They don't differentiate between ps and hs. You just have to ask the store you're buying it from what proof they require.
