Joanns post made me think - I wonder what day most of you are on. Now I know not all of you count days. I actually don't count my days but most my lessons are numbered. We are on lesson 22 but we actually started school about a month before we started lesson days, doing fun school - not the core subjects but the ones that always get pushed aside. It was a great way to start the school year. Being on lesson 22 is right on schedule for us.
I think I'm on 30-something days, but we're on different lessons. Dd5 is on lesson 45 in math, dd8 is on lesson 28 (There are test days in hers), ds13 in on Lesson 10, because I made him do quite a bit of review at the beginning of the year. DD11 is on lesson 21 (tests days in hers, too). Math is the only subject we have with numbered lessons. I don't worry too much about either- just get through the books and know that my kids are learning!
We are on day 33 of school. and our lesson numbers are different. dd 7th is on lesson 25in math, and dd 3rd is on lesson ? we are on schedule for us also. The days we have trouble getting a concept we take more time on.
We are halfway thru our 10th week. I stopped marking of the days because it's not gonna matter where we go so I just mark off the weeks. In our Heart of Dakota manuals we are in Unit 5. My oldest just finished chapter 2 in A Beka science and chapter 1 in A Beka history. We are on lesson 30? for First Language Lessons. She is currently taking the chapter 5 test of her math. My son is halfway thru his math workbook and just read his first sentence to me today. He has finally figured out the whole blending of the sounds. We have 6wks of schooling left and they leave to visit the grandparents until Christams!
We've been back to school for 6 weeks. We're currently in our 7th week. I can't really count by lessons b/c we've had some field trips and coop days in there. I think technically we're on day 38? But for lessons for the ones numbered we're around 30-31-32ish? It's going well, we're making progress. I'm trying not to get overly consumed, yet with our counting!!! We do HAVE to do 180 days. And a lot of our "curriculum" is less than 180 days. But....we'll see....
According to Homeschool Tracker - my kids have done school 33 days this year. But since we just switched back to Ambleside - we are only on Term 1 week 2 of that schedule. We HAD completed 1 quarter of work for Seton
i would have to do my attendance up on Homeschool tracker up to date to be exact but I think we are 30 something too. we started on the 8th and its the 6th? some where near that, Alll is going well here, we are plugging along and ds is keeping up with his work little by little, he only had one day to do two days in so far.. I hope he keeps it up!
Depends on the subject. Faythe will take the test for Module 3 in science on Monday, Rachael will take the Module 2 test in chemistry tomorrow. Faythe took the chapter 2 test in Pre-Alg today, Phillip finished up Lesson 50 in Saxon today. We started Week Four in history yesterday. So where are we? All over the place, and right where we should be! LOL!!!
I think tomorrow is Day 48....but we're definitely not on that for lesson purposes....since we counted our DC vacation as a LONG field trip, etc. I think generally we're about on lesson 37-ish in those things we started at the beginning of the year like Math & English (for the younger 2 kids....oldest DD will finish 6th grade about Christmas and start 7th after....so she's on a different cycle than the other 2).
Day 34, but give or take as far as lessons go. I have 2 other kids in public school so I'm following that schedule.
We are coming to the end of our school year- as we school Jan - Dec. We will finish up in around 7 weeks! Woo Hoo!
Day 40 here. We started in the middle of July but had a laid back schedule til September (not to mention a severely disrupted one, with camp and vacations, LOL).
Scottie, that's exactly why I finally gave up doing any serious school in the summer! Sometimes we need to finish a book or something, but we have too many camps/vacation to really do school!
We are so out of whack with lessons! On lesson 23 in math, still working on unit 3 in science because we've been sick for two weeks now, only on project 3 in geography, and still reading book number 1. But he's slamming through Japanese and History and I think we're on lesson 8 of vocabulary, which we only do once a week. I just purchased some new writing software called Inspiration 8, so we are going to start that tomorrow.
Our lessons are divided by days but rather by weeks (Five in a Row) so we are on week 5 right now (we took two weeks to do a couple of books because he liked them so much, and there was so much to do with them) This week is Madeline (I didn't do them in order...) And so far it looks like this book will take us two or three weeks to do....he's loving the book!
Yippee for you guys!! Btw, I showed DD11 your blog online. I don't think she realized (as I did not) that her penpal buddy had a website Rhonda
