I have been a little slack in the past few weeks. We have a constant stream of visitors right up until end of December- so blog isn't being updated as often.* sigh* How is the family? DD sent off a parcel to your DD 2 days ago. ( sadly, it has sat here since her b/day)- Have I mentioned how much I hate being so far from a post office??....lol
Today we're in the middle of our seventh week, actually on our 33rd day. But everybody is on different lessons of different materials, so there's no way to "summarize" where everybpdy is! Personally, I'm on the 33rd day of a 180-day nervous breakdown, but that's beside the point! LOL!
Well, we are on day 88. But we are doing year round since she has no clue what a summer vacation is. We also do different things in there too, like the virtual field trip yesterday. It is going well so far, I think.
Oh gosh I actually have no idea!!! Grace began first grade the second week of June. We have taken a couple weeks off here and there for breaks and health related issues with my parents and for hospitall visits. I know she will be done with first grade math before Christmas so I will have to order her new curriculum to start 2nd grade math by January. Since I don't have to keep track of anything we kind of go with whatever time frame works for us. This weekend I am going to take inventory of books as well as take a look at the schedule and see what is what and get a good feel for where we are and when we will be in 2nd grade. My kids are obviously on totally different schedules with Sam being in ps this year. We are able to do school in summer because we did it in the morning and went to the pool in the afternoon. Everyone was happy!
Tiffany, then I bet Grace is at the same place as mine...all over the place, and right where they belong!!! (Ain't it great not to have to keep track and worry about it?)
Thanks everyone. It is really neat to see where everyone is it. I think that it helps to keep you motivated when you know others are where you are at.
We are on week 6 out of 40 weeks. If I translated that into days we would be on day 26 out of 196 days.
Jackie that is good thinking! I think thats about where we are, I am finaly not worrying if we are right on time, I know my ds is learning lots this year and he is enjoying the learning. That is what counts right? YEAHH!
One of the reasons we school year-round is so that I don't have to worry about being "on track." We'll end our year when all the work for the year is done. That being said, we're not where we "should" be, considering we started the year in June. We've had to take time off for being sick - we've all come down with stomach bugs & bad colds, and the change of seasons & weather has wreaked havoc on my sinuses. We had to take time off for an out of state funeral. On top of all of that, dd has had to redo some of her work multiple times. She simply refuses to keep her finished work in her binder, and it gets lost before the grades have been recorded. So, she ends up having to redo it. The kids have been working hard, though. They want to end the year when it was expected to be done, so they're doing extra work to get it all done.
I just checked my Homeschool Tracker & today makes 30 days of school for us. We started on August 31st. As far as lessons...we're all over the place.
Figured it out Well I happened to have some time on my hands this rainy afternoon so I got down to business and figured out where we are and where we are going. Monday we will begin week 18 of our 36 week, 1st grade plan. I went through week by week and made a general plan for the rest of the year. Everything is saved so I can go back add things as needed week by week. I also made a few decisions I was unsure about and incorporated them into the rest of the year. I am very excited about how well she is doing and where we are?
I just counted up and we are on day 28. We don't have to keep to 180 days exactly, in fact, we may do more sometimes! I'm keeping track this year for my own curiosity and it's keeping me on track more by simply keeping track. *lol*
We just go through the schoolwork in a sort of orderly fashion. So we're all over the place too, and I'm very happy with where we're at!
Alexis is on week 1 of year 3 Ambleside. She wants to go through more of the books instead of doing a combo year 3/4 so we started over a little bit for her. Jacob is on week 2 of year 5 Ambleside. Saxon Math - lesson 30 for Alexis and 20(I think) for Jacob. Me - day 1
