Hi everyone, Today is my anniversary. Notice I say mine and not our. Two years ago today I had my gastric bypass and lost 100 pounds. I gained about 12 pounds back when our son left home and caused us all kinds of worry but that is okay. I feel great and he is back on track and in the Army going through basic training now. Just wanted to share my anniversary with my friends on here. It is good to be able to get up every morning without a headache from high blood pressure. I know it isn't for everyone but for me it changed my life and I would do it again in a heartbeat if I had to. Beth
Thank you. Some people have made comments that I took the easy way out to lose the weight, but that is okay. We each do what is right for us. I don't tell others to go this route, but I will talk to them about it if they ask. It was right for me.
Congratulations on your success!! No way would I say that is an easy thing to do. I lost a dear friend to that surgery in April. I'm glad it worked for you.
WOW that is awesome! I have a couple friends who have had that surgery one had problems and another had great success but is way too skinny now and my mil is doign great loosing little by little! I am happy for you!
A dear friend of mine had a cousin die after having RNY gastric bypass about a year before I had mine. Her cousin had been told by several doctors not to have it done because of a heart condition but she kept looking until she found a doctor who would do the surgery. She died a few months after surgery. I knew my friend would worry about me having it so I didn't tell her until after it was all over. I had told my husband that if something happened to me not to feel guilty for agreeing that I go ahead with the surgery. I felt so bad before I had it done and had tried so many times to lose the weight only to gain it back and then some. I knew the risks and am so grateful I did well. I am so sorry about your friend. Beth
TeacherMom, I had wondered if I would get too skinny like a lady I know. She is so thin she looks unhealthy. I got down from about a 24 or 26 to a 14 but then when everything went crazy with our son, Bobby, I went up a few pounds and have been in a 16 ever since. At 5'9" that size looks pretty good on me. I would have liked to lose a few more pounds, but I am not complaining!
yep soemtimes it can be worth the risks to get better health in the long run, and now your family has a much happier mama i bet too
Congrats. on your anniversary, your weight loss and more importantly a healthier you! LR FWIW....I hardly think gastric bypass is the easy way to lose weight...LOL
Congrats! I just had RNY gastric bypass in July. My best friend and my mom had it done 5-7 years ago. I wasn't convinced until then. We prayed over it and had so much confirmation from God before surgery that we knew to go through with it. So glad now that I did. So sorry about the people everyone has lost because of the surgery. It isn't for everyone, but I thank God it was available and was right for me.
Congratulations! I'm glad it's working for you. I had to quit a doctor because I couldn't walk into his office without him trying to get me to get the surgery. I am over 300#'s, but I am not a couch potato. I have had 3 friends get the surgery. One had it done just over 17 years ago and she never lost all of the weight she needed to. Her hair fell out and all of her teeth rotted from throwing up. She is now close to my weight again. Another got it about 2 or 3 years ago and lost some weight and then plateaued. Last check and she hasn't started losing again. The third one I haven't seen in over a year, so I don't know how she is progressing. I feel as long as I am mobile without assistance and doing daily activities without stress, then I just can't go there. I hope your success continues, I know not all results end up like my friends.
Beth, Congrats. Way to go girl. You have to do what is best for you and you found out what works for you and you did it. CONGRATS! girl I am so proud of you. Keep up the good work.
