I wish they would put cameras in the classrooms. This is just insane. If this is how many get caught, imagine how many are not getting caught.

you're so right, momofafew. Cameras in classrooms would be so beneficial. Even the kids that can talk, tell someone about abuse from teachers (or others in authority) and often times they are not believed. And then, the kids end up "paying" for saying anything.

Saw this on Fox News the other night:

    http://www.sott.net/articles/show/195189-UK-Cameras-in-the-Classroms

The Teachers Union in the UK is protesting them. I think it was Brett Baer who reported it, and I *think* he said the National PTA said they are considering it for the US. On the one hand, I cringe at the idea of cameras in schools, for privacy reasons. Do teens have a right to privacy? They aren't like the employees (teachers) who can get a job somewhere else; unless they convince their parents to move, they are stuck in that school.

I noticed in the news report about the families of the special needs children, that the children who received the most abuse were non-verbal. Placing a camera in a classroom of this type isn't going to stop non-verbal children from being harmed. There are areas within a classroom that the camera will not be able to see allowing "free space" for the adult to cause physical harm. And if this sort of thing was happening to the non-verbal children in this class, what sort of mental or spiritual harm was inflicted on the verbal children in that class. How terrified would a verbal special needs child be if they were made to witness a classmate forced to eat vomit? How afraid would that child be to tell what they witnessed?
This is one of the big reasons we chose to homeschool our autistic son. There is no school in this world that can guarantee my ds safety, physically, mentally, emotionally or spiritually. I don't care how many precautions they say they take.
