Today is my dh's birthday and today and yesterday we have worked on a big project. We are putting together a movie out of digital pictures of my dh and his kids. They picked out the titles and the ideas they wanted to express and we are finishing it today.
That's not playing hookey, that is career exploration day. Creative Arts Day. Extra credit project. They are learning organizational skills and creative writing/expression, not to mention team work.
This is exactly what I thought when I read your post. What a creative gift! Are they writing out the ideas on what to say for the photos? If so, isn't that Creative Writing? Can't you build story lines on the photos and credit that to comprehension? I would still count those hours in some way. The wonderful thing about homeschooling is that the children benefit from these experiences. They learn to think outside of the box, "Free Thinkers". That is where our future leaders come from!
I agree! It gave them great real life learning experiences! Plus it really touched my dh. We just played hookey from our regular work
I think this is not only a school day, but a neat way to celebrate your dh's birthday. I can't think of any day that we can't say it's not a school day, even Sundays.
