Do any of you remember the program called Life Goes On? I loved it and watched it all the time. Today my daughter who is a social worker was at a training session and they took a break for lunch and the actor who played the son Corky on the show came over and ate lunch at the table with my daughter and her co worker. Then they got to meet one of President Kennedy's nephews. I forgot what she said his name was, but he was one of the Shrivers. Timothy maybe? Okay you can tell we live in a small town and it doesn't take a lot to excite us, but we did get a kick out of it all.
I remember that show. We talked about it not long ago because out of the blue I had the show's theme song stuck in my head.
I remember the show. It was a favorite of mine. I believe this was the first place that I remember seeing Kelly Martin. Wish I could watch it again in syndication.
Every girl in my class had a crush on Ty! (hope I got that name right...lol...after that many years, who knows?!) We also latched on to Corky's phrase "girls are weird!" What a great show that was.
Oh, and don't feel like you're alone in your small town thing....I remember it was big news when I was about 10 years old and saw Michael Gross (Stephen Keaton on Family Ties) at a local store and got his autograph.
I loved that show! I watched mainly because I share a name with one of the characters. I had a crush on Ty too. That's nice that your daughter got to meet Corky and another famous person. We live in a small city, so I know what you mean about when celebrities visit. About 2 yrs ago Jessica Simpson was spotted at some of our stores and restaurants. There were spotting blogs on our local newspaper's website. It was rather funny.
Our town is so small it sounds funny to say city. Our city limit signs make me laugh. Our new visitors center looks like you are coming into some big city or something and we all keep saying, "Who visits here?" I love our small town but really nothing much ever happens here. Our same daughter met Delta Burke once and we acted the same way then. All star struck! That was back when Designing Women was on and we really were thrilled. Katie said she was so nice when she met her.
I never saw that show! That's neat that your dd had that happen! I used to live in Southern CA, and our school class (I was in 6th grade) went to Palm Springs to see some football game in off-season. A friend of mine and I went in to an ice cream parlour and saw Jonathan Winters. Anyone remember him? He was a comedian, and we both liked him, so to see him in person was cool. He called us over to his table (since we were obviously pointing at and talking about him!) We all talked together while we ate icecream, then he gave us his autograph. None of the other kids or the teacher got to see him (now that I think about it, where was some kind of chaperone?!!!), and didn't believe us 'til we showed them our autograph books (which we'd brought along for the football players)! I have no clue which fb player autographs I got. I still have that book somewhere, should see if I can find it.... A couple of years ago I helped with a local Extreme Home Makeover and got to talk with Ty and a couple of the others. I still have the blue shirt they give to the helpers. That was fun too!
Tug McGraw was a cool guy, too. When I was a kid, we went to see the Phillies play the Reds, and stayed at the same hotel in Cincinnatti where the Phillies stayed. So many of the players would sign autographs, but wouldn't look at you or speak to you or anything. But Tug McGraw actually went to the pool, and just played around with the kids. I went down to get my little brother out of the pool, and he rode up in the elevator with me. He just started joking with me and things, really a friendly guy.
THats really neat, I loved that show. I went to highschool with a kid that always remined me of that charictor, (and his name was simular too).
