DD had a cheer competition at the Cox Convention Center and got 2nd out of two teams. I am so disappointed because the team that won dropped a stunt, fell off the mat, and stepped out of bounds. My dd's team had NO deductions and they still lost by .5 points. COME to find out that team OWNS PART of the organization that put on the competition!!! I WAS LIKE WHHHAAATTT??? So they are reviewing the results again. ALL of the girls and boys are sooo upset. Anyway, tomorrow another competition and they DONT own any part of THAT organization. WIsh us luck!! Midwest City Cheer Unlimited!! Thanks y'all!
That's crappy Hope they do great today. I have thought of getting my DD into cheering. Not for football, there is a "kiddy gym" where they have a competition team along with other things. She is quite young, just turning 5, and loves that sort of thing along with ballet and gymnastics, but all of it is out of our budget, so doubt it will ever happen for any of it. I do know the cheer team offers "scholarships" and no one is ever turned away because of money, but I worry about kids picking on her because we aren't loaded with money when many of the kids are (the lot is usually full of Escalade, Audi, and BMW... I drive a 12 year old Dodge Ram truck..lol).
We do not pay all the tuition on time either and even the other parents don't seem to treat us any different over that as well as the children. It's such a BLAST! She would learn a whole lot of social skills, coordination, and you will make friends too. It's pretty fun. EXPENSIVE, but fun. I think we will have spent $3000 ish last year was more because of the uniform etc, but we used the same uniform this year as last and I altered it to fit her.
A small hyjack hope you don't mind. http://www.youngchampionsofamerica.org/ Here's a good place if there is one in your area. My husband works for one here in NC. You pay by the class & they have a raffle ticket sale to pay for equipment. He gets paid by the hour so this is not a promoting thing for me. I just think they have some good low income options. Too bad they only have martial arts where we live. I'd love art for my daughter.
well I hope things work out better, thats life in any kind of sports. That is why I always taught my girls never go with the plan of winning do your best and what happens, happens. Sommer, its hard for us people that don't have money. I have done my best for my girls and yes they haven't been able to do alot but they are fine. We do things at home. Best, we can do.
GOOD LUCK!!! Hope the people who are doing the reviewing are unbias; sounds as if things weren't quite above board! Hoping things go better today!
We got 2nd Sunday too. Kinda weird that same team won. Who knows. It will all work out in the end. We go to comp again dec 5&6 in Tulsa sooo maybe we'll blow them out of the water!!
