I would like to get magazine subscriptions for my children, but do not want anything questionable. I have a 13 yr old girl, 15 yr old boy, 8 yr old son, and 5 yr old son. I am assuming my 2.5 month old doesn't need a magazine. If anyone has suggestions of magazines they might enjoy that have no questionable material, or at least, little enough that it can just be a discussion point, that would be great. Thanks!
I can't help with the teenagers, but I do have 5 and 8 year old boys so I thought I would mention their favorite magazines. My 8 year old gets Ranger Rick and 5 year old gets Your Big Backyard and they LOVE them. Both magazines are by The National Wildlife Federation and focus on animals and the environment. The is also a cute Animal Baby boardbook style Magazine for little ones. 2.5 months is a bit young, but my friend's 2 year old drags hers around the house constantly so you might want to consider it in the future. I wish I had known about it when my kids were that age. https://w1.buysub.com/pubs/NW/JFF/0907_BBI_Quad.jsp?cds_page_id=66446&cds_mag_code=JFF
Focus on the Family has a couple of good ones for teen girls & boys. Brio is for teen girls and Breakaway is for teen boys. I pick one up every now and then when we go to Lifeway Christian Store. I want to say that they also have the "Jr." magazines that go with both of them for younger boys and girls, but I can't be certain about that.
Brio no longer exists as a teen magazine. They had financial problems, and they did away with that one. I think they also did away with Breakaway, too. They still have CLUBHOUSE and CLUBHOUSE JUNIOR. Clubhouse Junior is mostly for under age 8, Clubhouse for over age 8. Campus Life Magazine....? Ya know, that might be a good choice for Rachael, especially since she no longer gets Brio. (She REALLY liked it!). I read Campus Life when I was in high school, and loved it. I'm pretty sure it's still around....
Right now my dd13 like any magazine with photos of Taylor Lautner. lol! Oh gosh I remember when I was a teen girl.
Kirk Cameron. I think we are all dating ourselves. Kirk Cameron is my age I believe. Oh I loved him so. <sigh>
And Donny Osmond is mine, lol!!! My kids are watching the original "Battlestar Galactica" on some nostalgia station on Saturday nights. My bff and I watched that EVERY WEEK in college. She was in TEARS because we had tickets to see Dirk Benedict in a play in Columbus, and she got sick and couldn't come.
I was in love with Kirck Cameron, Corey Haim, Keiffer Sutherland, Ricky Schroeder, Ralph Machio and the blond guy from Dukes of Hazzard!
The Beatles. Can you believe it? My dd and ds both like the Beatles and play them for their own kids.....
