Beth mentioned that she like to quilt, even though it wasn't something she did often. I was curious how many quilters we have on the board. I know I enjoy quilting, though my sewing machine no longer works!

Oh! Count me in. I have made quilts for nieces' and nephews' weddings. After making one for hubby I want to attempt quilted clothing.

I love quilting! I haven't made a quilt in quite some time though, but I do have a little simple mini quilt almost done for the baby.

Me too! I have made 2 baby quilts for 2 of my girls and I have made 4 comforters for my 4 older kids. My fave quilt that I made was a denim and cordorouy rag quilt for my son. It is soooo heavy and warm...everyone wants one, but that one took me forever to do! Maybe if I ever have enough time again I will make another rag quilt.

    Count me in!
Have made numerous quilts as gifts...
Last christmas my sis gave me a gift card to make a quilt for myself. I used this as a chance to try new things....I made my own design AND I'm trying "echo quilting" instead of just sewing/quilting the pieces together at the seams.

It's a good thing this is a "use" quilt and not suppose to hang on the wall as the mistakes are glaringly obvious. But, I have named it my sanity quilt since working on it through hubbie's injury and the workman's comp. games has saved my sanity!

    Count me in too.
I have made quilts and wall hangings. I don't make any now because it is so time consuming and takes up our school table. Due to space, I know make cards and beading projects. As long as I am creating something, I am happy.

Okay Jackie, I have to ask this question next...
How many UFOs (unfinished objects) will any of you quilters admit to?
    I will start-
    One wall hanging,
    three baby quilts,
one completely hand pieced grandma's flower garden that I have been working on for over two years,
and a couple of works in progress that really never got going that great.
So that makes hmmmm? Maybe seven.
I start things and get sidetracked and then see something else I want to try and get called away and well you see the pattern here. I am lucky though. I have a tiny room just for my sewing and can shut the door and leave it out anyway I want to. Nobody goes in and messes with my things. They wouldn't dare!

    I currently have 4 UFO's:
1 baby quilt that only needs knots tied and the batting and back sewn on and the edges finished
1 "scrap" quilt for my 6 yo - little squares of odds and ends
1 "puppy" quilt for my 5 yo - all the fabrics are puppies or colors of puppies and the center will look like a puppy when I'm done
1 quilt of unknown design which all the fabric has been bought for but no pattern selected and no pieces cut - this one will be for mine and DH's bed.

Two bleached muslim and yellow gingham quilts that were suppose to go on the girls' beds when they shared a bedroom, and went with the lovely yellow gingham curtains I made. (Do I count it as ONE project or TWO?). The scrap quilt top I finally got mostly pieced, thanks to six sessions of PIGS (Projects In Grocery Sacks), the flannel lap quilt I'm doing for Carl to use primarily during the unpredicatable weather of soccer seasons in Ohio and which would have been totally pieced by now if it weren't for my sewing machine busting some gear somewhere.... Oh, and now that I think of it, there's one or two Christmas projects that never really got beyond the cutting-some-material-apart stage.... Rachael actually fnished one of those UFO's for me about two years ago. It was a nine-patch baby quilt, and she actually quilted it to give to my SIL for Christmas when she was expecting. She finished it a few months after the baby was born, but by then it was almost summer and so she figured he didn't need a warm quilt and never did give it to her.

Ok, I want to see photos - both of your finished quilts, and your works in progress. Then I can ask you lots of questions about how you did that! :) I'm doing an applique lap quilt. So far I've cut out the applique pieces (they're flowers), and have ironed them onto squares of off-white cloth. I am hand appliquing them so I can take it with me. I will probably sew all of the pieces together with my machine. I'll take photos of the pieces when they're done. :)

I am an avid quilter at heart, but reality limits my time and money for this hobby. So I have decided to work slowly and enjoy the times I can. I have 3 UFOs. One is for my son and it is red, black, and a little white. It is really a cool pattern. I bought a whole book just for this one pattern (about $25-$30). I have been a collector of fabric, but I have tamed that for now. The other project is one for my grown niece and it is all neutrals. She wanted that and even though I didn't think it would be fun working with neutrals it was and it turned out good. The last UFO is for my 1 yr. old niece. I am going to applique (or reverse applique) puzzle shape pieces of novelty fabrics. The novelty fabrics are my favorite type and these are quite bold. I have just barely started this one, but once my son's is done that is what I want to work on. The one for my grown niece I am going to have quilted somewhere else to save my time. I enjoy the piecing so much more. Now someday... maybe I will have a longarm quilter and then go to town. But who am I kidding, that won't happen anytime soon.

Marylyn, I think I did post a picture of my finished quilt when I finished it last spring. I'm sure you've seen it when we were living together, but am not sure you'd remember it. Diane helped me baste it together at the church while the kids were at co-op. Then she left, and the other moms helped me finish basting while we had our "mom's meeting", lol! Don't you love hs'ing moms who just jump in and help? I'll see if I can find it for you!

Editied to say I found it! http://www.homeschoolspot.com/showthread.php?t=16934&highlight=quilt

Unfortunately, my "off" seasons often went for a ong time! Do you remember The Calico Cupboard in Uptown Westerville? I know I was living in that place where we were at when I took an all-night class there, from midnight until 8 AM, I think it was. That's when I made the quilt top that eventually became Phillip's baby quilt.

Count me in. I have sold one quilt at a local fabric store and the rest have been gifts. I have at least 3 UFO's. A king quilt for my bed and the material for quilts for my two youngest dds. I also have several applique projects still in the stor bags. It seems I am very short on time anymore.
As a solution I knit. Although I have a few UFO's in that department as well. LOL
