Ok - last year we got through 2 months of our reading plan and then would pick it up here and there..... but this year I really want to do it as an entire family - especially with the 2 foster kids here.

I found one that I thought might be cool to do - every day is a different genre so it's not chronological - but a different "theme" almost every day so it might not get as tedious if that makes sense.

I'm going to ask the family if they would be interested and then let them choose which way they would like to do it.

I think it would be interesting since the older girls have bibles in Spanish and of course ours are in English - so I'm wondering the difference in translation and interpretation.

Personally, I like the Bible Gateway plans and have enjoyed the New Living translation.

I have a chronological new living translation that I am currently using and dh just started a chronological bible with daily readings NIV version. We have done "Training Hearts Teaching Minds" by Starr Meade, that was very good. They have very short daily readings. I have also used this book with my Sunday School class. Best of luck to you on what ever you choose.

We were working on one similar to the bible gateway one - but using a Catholic bible (extra books added in)....

It was chronological if I remember correctly.

So I thought I would let the whole family decide this time to see how discussions go. I just think the "Genre" version is just different - I hadn't seen it put together like that.

I'd like to see a "pattern" reading plan - comparing stories from the OT to the NT to see the correlations, but that's a personal one and don't think I want to go that one with the 10 year old this year ;)

We have a bible curric, no worksheets, just basic reading guidelines and discussion ideas, chronologically, it is written for homeschoolers, I'm thinking it is called homeschool bible curric. They have a wbsite. It is basically 3 volumes, to make it all the way through the bible, we are doing one a year, they are $20 per volume. Then u can print off free worksheets at the Calvary website for free that corrolate perfectly if u want worksheets. My kids, 7 and 9, love it, which shocked me bc of it's simplicity. I'm learning a ton as well.

Hey I have that one- I got it from currclick awhile ago and I found it on my hard drive :) I have Foundations 1 and also the study of the book of acts. I think I will print it out and read it and see what we can do :) It might be fun to make it a nightly family event :)

I am still working thru the chronilogical Bible reading. I have enjoyed it and have not followed it as it said daily. I am on Sept. 6th. I have read it along with J. Vernon McGee Bible Commentary Series and have really enjoyed reading it that way. It has taken more time, but have enjoyed it. It is worth reading the Bible thru!!!

We read one called Daily Walk bible its NLT has a little bit to think on plus reading. Once day a week you get a day off so to speak , it gives you ideas tothink on for that day, or re read stuff etc.
I have read it myself three or so years in a row and now ds and I are working on our second year, we will start on January first with it again.. but, I also have my daily devotional out there ( sorry if I shoudlnt mention it) if you are just looking for devotional readings. it has a scripture, a thought about it or story that goes with it, and a begining prayer suggestion to get you started. I have another one I am changing from a 60 to a 90 day devotional this week I am working on that one, but it will be out in a few weeks as well.

I also have a "Walk in the Word" that I started to post on my blog but decided to wait until the beigning of the year to finish posting it. I have written as far as up to 2 Sam. With fairly easy interesting questions and answers.. the sample of the first lesson is on my blog, msg me if you want more info. Its free! as I am just reformating it to make it into a book it has a few typos and format problems so forgive those and you get a free version haha!
