Oh, we started "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days", and both times i couldn't stay in the room! The whole idea of a relationship starting on the basis of lies I do NOT find amusing!

That's ok, you don't have to. You don't have to like it and have that choice.

I don't know if any of you are old enough to remember this one and it isn't what I would call a chick flick, but it really touched me. My Sweet Charlie. I am 55 years old so it has to be close to 30 years old.

    My favorites are...
    Somethings Gotta Give

    Julie and Julia
    (although Dutch like that one)

Dirty Dancing (although it makes me sad now...I miss Patrick)

Don't like the ones where in the couple sleep together and THEN he falls in love with her because it just doesn't happen like that in real life...and if they keep making these stupid movies then girls (maybe mine) will think this is a viable tactic. ugh.
    (sorry RANT)
    so I also like
Mulan...not your typical chick flick...and my hubby doesn't like it because she fell for the macho warrior instead of one of the guys that were her true friends...but still I like it.

I tend to have issues with most chick flicks from a moral stand point. But that being said, my favorites are:

The Princess Bride (though a lot of guys like it, too)
Still Breathing (Almost no one has heard of it, but it's AMAZING! Brandon Frasier at his finest... you. must. watch. it.)
Where the Heart is (morally boarderline, but still worth watching, imo)
    Wild Hearts Can't be Broken
Untamed Hearts (also morally questionable, but he is definitely in love with her long before they sleep together)
The Three Muskateers (Though DH insists it's a dude flick: swords, witchy ex-wife, etc)

Seriously though, Still Breathing should be on your list. For one, very few people have even heard of it so it would be something different. And it's super, super good! Great acting, great scenery, visually wonderful....

I see movies as a form of entertainment ONLY, not an example of "real life".....unless of course it is a bio or documentary. We monitor what our 5 yr old views.....but as an adult...I get the difference. Me watching a movie an thinking "hey, they can have an affair, so I can too"....is equivalent to my son watching Coraline & thinking "it's ok for adults to sew buttons on your eyes"....IMO

My sister liked "While You Were Sleeping". Mine were already mentioned--"Sleepless in Seattle", and "You've Got Mail". Oh, and speaking of Meg Ryan movies, there's also "Kate & Leopold". That's a good one! I like Meg Ryan, can you tell?

Another one I like stars Meryl Streep--Music of the Heart--GREAT movie!

Sabrina is one of those rare movies where I think the re-make is as good as the original.

Another is "The Music Man"; I was pleasantly surprised with that re-make.

"Miracle on 34th Street" was ALMOST as good, but I didn't like the ending on the re-make. I loved him getting on because of the U.S. Postal Service!

In the book the girl runs away with the horse and gets attacked by a wild stallion and the guy shows up to save her. He ends up getting killed by the stallion, kind of a suicide mission so the mom doesn't have to make a hard choice.
