The arctic front is here and it is CCCCCold! With wind chills it got down to 5 degrees last night.. But we are nice and toasty inside. I feel sorry for hubby. He'll be working out in this mess.. I'm listening to the radio though Sky Angel.. 89.3 KSBJ out of Houston and it's 53 degrees there.I miss the warm weather. I can't WAIT for spring.. Angela
I hate winter weather! I really hate being cold and closed up in the house. I LOVE summer when we can be outside and growing things in our tiny garden. Bill keeps asking me what comes after winter. I have to remind him that it is Spring!!!
We are expecting another 3-5in of snow today/tomorrow.....My dh is working outside as well, yesterday he said his back is really starting to hurt....walking 5+ miles everyday in the snow with all those clothes on is killing him.
When I got up this morning is was -28, it is about -10 now. It is just way too cold. Dh works nights this week (he works on the drilling rigs so he is out in the weather all the time), he said it got bitter cold last night. It just did not matter how much he had on the cold and wind just went right through it.
Oh my goodness!! THAT is cold. Wow. I'm so glad hubby doesn't have to stay outside for long periods of time anymore. He used to work on the rigs here as well. Although not as a hand on the rig but as a drill collar inspector. Until one of the 1000 pound suckers fell and crushed his foot. I remember how he HATED going out when it was cold. definately never that cold though. He would put his long johns on under his jeans and longsleeve shirt and then big thick coveralls. We don't have much of a heating system so we shut off our bedroom in order to keep the rest of the house at a decent temperature. I went in there a few minutes ago and I could see my breath. Thank goodness the rest of the house is warm. Makes me think of all those people out there who aren't so fortunate as to have a home to stay warm in..
Well we are having a heat wave today. It got to 18 above so I took my little one out to ride his snowmobile. It was a blast. I hope everyone else is staying warm.
It was in the mid 20's today. The boys were begging to go to the skate park so I dropped them off while I went grocery shopping. A friend of ours took her boys fishing today and after I was finished grocery shopping I met up with her and our kids fished for a little while. It was still cold. But so nice to get out of the house.. I really can't wait until spring.
Our spring is so far away that I won't even think about it. I do love the winter, it is just when it is so cold here it is hard to remember that I do. I guess I would not live here if I did not. I always tell dh that I would rather have this bitter cold than the blistering heat and bugs in the south, again.lol
None of you will be interested in my post. I'm on the Central Coast of California. It's about 68 degrees outside, the sun is shining, and the foothills are covered with green grass. Today our family will be doing some yard work. So sorry . . . .
I am in the Southern California lower mountains and the weather has be beautiful. We have been in the 60s and 70s. Even our nights have been nice. Usually at this time of year we freeze. I have only had to go out and break the animals water once. Usually it is a daily thing in January. Honestly, I wish it was colder because it is an nice break from the heat.
I hate the heat too! But it's coming. It won't be long and we'll be back into the upper 90's and then the triple digits will follow with excruciating humidity on top of it.. I forget how miserable we are in the summer. I like it better though since we can cool off in the lake or the pool and the mornings are beautiful. Perfect for exploring nature!
I'm jealous! We haven't had a winter this cold in a while so I'm really ready for it to be GONE! 70 degrees would be WONDERFUL. Although we did have a day last week that was in the 60's.THe kids enjoyed it by playing outside ALL day long. Then the arctic front came through and knocked the temps back down. Today is supposed to be in the 50's so that's nice. I can't wait until things start getting green around here. Probably the end February or middle or March. So not too much longer. I think I'm getting Spring Fever.
I am also getting spring fever. It is around 5 degrees and we have about 10 inches of snow on the ground. The snow machine finally wound down and the sun was out for a while today. Only about 90 days before spring. Hurry!!!
