350 for 20-30 min. The dough should be a light golden brown when done.
They don't last long here, either. That's why I almost always make more than 1 batch. Sometimes, I'll make 3 or 4 batches of pizza rolls & 2 or 3 batches of mozzerella bites (I use pizza dough for those, too) all at once, just so I have enough for lunch & still have enough to freeze.

I make homemade chicken nuggets, too. There are never any leftovers.

I'm going to try those pizza rolls!

Amie, my step-mom never allowed me in the kitchen at all. My grandmother allowed me to cook some, but mostly, I've just figured it out along the way.

Amie, like Jackie my mom did not teach me either. Self taught here. I have many many many kitchen disasters before it is edible sometimes. I just keep trying!

Oh, one time when Carl and I were "just friends", I was over at his place, and we decided to make a cobbler with a crumb crust. You know, with flour, sugar, and butter. Only we FORGOT THE FLOUR!!! It was just sugar and butter! Talk about a DISASTER, lol!!!

Maybe I'll take a day when we hve nowhere to go, and have the kids make a whole bunch of the pizza rolls. Tell them we'll make enough to last the whole month or something. We can eat some for lunch that day.

Oh, thank you for the pizza roll recipe my kids have been asking for some pizza rolls lately.

So, does anyone have a good pizza dough recipe? or a good pizza sauce recipe?

    YES!!!

    Sauce

1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste

    1-3 tablespoon garlic, minced
1-3 tablespoon mixed Italian herbs (oregano, basil, and parsley combined)
    1-2 tablespoon olive oil
    salt
    1 1/4 cups water
1 pizza crust (Boboli or your own recipe)

    Directions
    1Mix ingredients together.
2Spread evenly on prepared dough or Boboli, top with toppings and bake according to dough's directions.

    Dough (Whole wheat)

    Ingredients
    1 1/2 cups water
    1 teaspoon honey
    1 1/2 teaspoons olive oil
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    2-4 cups whole wheat flour
    2 tablespoons vital wheat gluten
    1 1/2 tablespoons yeast
    1 teaspoon garlic minced (optional)
    Directions
1Mix water, oil, honey and yeast.
2Add wheat gluton, garlic and two cups of the flour.
3If you are using a mixer like a Bosch, Dimension or a KitchenAid you add additional flour until the sides of the mixer come clean.
4Knead about 7 minutes in your mixer.
5If mixing by hand add one cup at a time until the right consistence and knead until smooth and elastic.
6If you choose you can let the dough rise or just divide the dough and half and roll out one on a pizza stone.
7After you roll the dough out pierce the rolled out pizza dough with a fork.
8Bake the pizza crust 450 degrees for about five minutes.
9Add your toppings such as sauce and cheese or whatever you want on pizza and then put back into the oven at 450 for about 10 minutes.
    10Repeat for the second crust.

I do let the dough rise.

Don't give yourself a hard time at all. My mom never taught me anything either, I started cooking when I was 9 out of survival skills it was either learn how to cook or eat really bad spaghetti or other icky stuff.

For a quicker Pizza Roll you can use packaged Won Ton wrappers. I'll buy the square ones and cut them in 1/4's. Mix pizza sauce, cheese, and preferred fillings. Put a small amount in the center of the Won Ton, wet the edges and seal. You can freeze theese on a sheet tray and then transfer to freezer bags. You can bake or fry these.

You can also use the Won Ton wrappers for ravioli and Chinese dumplings.

So many good ones on this thread! I love homemade noodles, but have not made any yet. I love Birbitt's instant pudding mix idea, too!

My mother was not a good cook; my father was but not a good teacher. I prefer baking and my husband loves to cook, but he has to travel quite a bit for work now so I cook more. Personally, I prefer salads, soups, and anything that can be whipped up in a blender, like protein drinks, but pretty much the main dishes we eat at home are made from scratch--except the noodles, but that may change.

I don't buy these things at the store unless absolutely necessary, so I make:
sourdough sandwich bread, rolls, buns (sometimes whole wheat, rye, etc., varieties)
sweet breads of all kinds, like corn breads, banana breads, bran muffins, etc.
biscuits, also used as a wrap around hot dogs
    scones
    Aunt Annie's-like pretzels (very yummy!)
    pizza crusts and pizza
turkey and chicken stocks with meat picked from the carcass for soup
    soups, stews, and chilies
Outback-like blooming onion with sauce (not as difficult as you might think)
cookies of all kinds (of course)
candy, like caramels, toffee, fudges, nut brittles
    pie crusts and pies
    applesauce
cranberry sauce (my husband's specialty, actually)
    pancakes and waffles
    many sauces and hummus
    vegetable burgers
sprouts (these are grown, of course)
yogurt (we use clabbered milk or homemade yogurt when we can, although I do not have a yogurt maker)

And, although I have not make it yet, I am planning to make my own granola this week as we have that with yogurt for breakfast most of the time. I would also like to make my own butter as I do buy raw milk from a nearby farm.

One other thing I would like to start making, although not edible, is my own soap!

With all that said, I still buy chocolate!

I like my own cornbread much better than the mix you buy in a box. I like to make my own waffles, muffins, pancakes too instead of getting a mix. I also like homemade soup and chili, and spaghetti sauce better than mixes, much better than canned, but canned can be so convenient!

Here's the link to the ones I have made using yeast that I really like:
    http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Buttery-Soft-Pretzels/Detail.aspx

Oh, her instructions lack a bit: be sure to roll them nearly pencil thin and just use the baking soda solution in a shallow bowl.

Being that I am a sourdough lover, I am working on finding on a sourdough recipe just as good--well, better actually, since sourdough has more flavor.

Ok, this thread has made me incredibly hungry and since I hate to cook...I have nothing to add. I do make the occassional loaf of bread in my 13 yr old bread machine....lol.

My mom is a great cook but I was never interested in learning to cook (although she would have gladly taught me). My oldest daughter always has Grandma show her something in the kitchen when she visits....so there is hope to pass on her talent to her grandchildren.

Seeking..butter can be made easier than you think! Growing up on the farm we made our butter from goat milk but it was super simple! We'd take the fresh milk and put it into and impeccably clean and sanitized canning jar (filled maybe 2/3 - 3/4 of the way full) and then drop in a couple (2-3) clean and sanitized marbles screw on the lid and SHAKE, SHAKE, SHAKE! When you hear very little sound from the marbles check on the butter, keep shaking till you get it just how you like it!

My oldest used this method at her previous Dept of Defense elementary school. We didn't actually eat it because I wasn't there to see how "sanitized" everything was but it did work and she was so proud that she made butter.

we used to make it all the time at home, we'd be watching TV at night each shaking our jars of butter. So we all got really good at ignoring the tink, tink, tink sounds during our favorite tv programs.
