I haven't really posted here much since I joined, but I appreciate all the words of wisdom I've read! I wanted to share an idea my 2nd grade son thought of this morning, to practice multiplication. He wanted to write the answers on our white board (for example 2,4,6,8, etc for 2's) and then shoot them with his nerf gun suction darts when I say the problem. It worked out SO well!! Last week, we set the math book aside to work on multiplication only and now he WANTS to practice, A LOT! We are still new to this homeschooling thing and I am struggling, so I am very happy that he figured out a way to make it fun, since I have been slacking in that department!
Thank you so much for sharing this idea! Nerf guns are big in our house so I am sure my son would love to hear this idea as well!!
Someone on here gave this link for a multiplication video game. My DS is using it and having a blast. It's free to download. You don't have a choice of which play field to go to, you have to stay with the ogres. Unless you want to pay for the upgrade. It is a video game that is easy to play, has decent graphics for the younger kiddos and reviews what it teaches so it stays fresh. He is determined to play it until he goes all the way through. http://www.bigbrainz.com/
I saw that on here, he has been playing it!! I am optimistic between that and the nerf game, he will have these down quickly! (really my goal is this semester, so he has plenty of time!)
Thanks so much for posting that link for the game! I am amazed at how quickly he is remembering the facts!
There are lots of math board games out there too.. some we have are Dino Math Tracks, 'Smath, and Presto Change-o. Only the 'Smath is for multiplication, but I'm sure there are more out there. Anything to make learning fun works for me
LOVE LOVE LOVE that timesattack game! Thanks for the link! My 4 yr old is on level 3 and having a blast doing his sisters "work"
