Has anyone used it? Did you love it? Hate it? Like it, but found it lacking in ceratin areas? Would you use it again?

It's one of my many considerations for K...

I tried it at that age, but that was 8 years ago! At that time, it didn't work for us, because it came somewhat sporadically. I'd go weeks without one, and then get three all at once.

We've used MFW for the last three years and love it. However, I have the kindergarten level but haven't yet used it. It didn't suit my middle child (who I had ordered it for). However, it will be perfect for my youngest next year.
The MFW website has a message board. It is very helpful and good to answer your questions. You may want to check it out.

Thanks for the input, girls! Still looking around...

I'm mainly considering Rod & Staff, A Beka, or MFW. I'll definitely check out MFW's site; thank you!

I like that MFW and Rod & Staff have Bible stuff integrated. A Beka seems to be the curriculum of choice for a LOT of homeschoolers. It does look outstanding from a purely academic point of view, but I'd have to buy the Bible portion seperately. eep.

Abeka has a lot of bible incorporated in their books, yes the Bible course is separate but every book, every class has bible content! The readers have Stories like "The sun is bright, God made the sun, I can play in the sun", the community helper book even has the pastor as a community helper, the handwriting has short sentences that include the Bible and God. So while you would need to purchase the Bible portion it's not necessarily exclusive. The Kindergarten bible is basically memory verse cards and coloring sheets that relate to a bible story and honestly that's easily made yourself KWIM?

We use MFW and really like it. We skipped the K curriculum since both of our girls were already reading. We really liked the 1st grade program, though. We're doing Creation to the Greeks now, and are still happy with the curriculum.

Marylyn, we're doing CtoG right now also! Everytime I turn around, my kids are building pyramids and wrapping mummies. I'm surprised at how much they got into the ancient Egypt studies! I think we've read every book at the library that even remotely touches on the subject. :)

I use MFW-K. This is my 2nd time using it and I like it. It is very gentle. For my daughter it was more of a review as she knew all of her letter sounds. She quickly caught on to letter blends. I was tempted to move to 1st but glad I waited with her because we are doing that now and there is ALOT of writing in 1st as well as very fast moving phonics. Now this year I am doing it again with my son. It is perfect for him as he doesn't have a long attention spand.
The biggest thing to keep in mind when using MFW is the book basket. Many leave this out and then say that the program is too light. The only thing I added to MFW is math. That is optional because it is in the lessons planner but a bit too gentle for my tastes.
