How does your family beat their winter blahs? We get them really bad this time of year. Jan/Feb just absolutely stink! I plan my garden for the spring, begin looking at next year's curriculum and most of all, I've planned our year so that we are finished the first week of April. It helps to know that there's only about 8 weeks of school left. How about you?
I usually try to plan field trips, shake up the schoolwork a bit and try an online class or something new and different. This year, we're starting a Human Body class with a bunch of friends. will give us something to look forward to every other week. My kids seem to last until about March, and then we need to take a few days off. We'll see....they seem pretty focussed right now! LOL
Our family likes to play games. We also enjoy reading out loud as a family. When our homeschool convention was held in the spring, that was another way to get past the monotony of winter weather.
We hatch chickens, duck, and geese! I was debating on whether or not to hatch this year, and maybe I won't start as early as I usually do, but it wouldn't be spring without baby ducks! So right now I am just planning that, but like everyone else probably I am thinking about next year's curriculum too. I don't think I will make any major changes though. We also read a lot, even me. Right now I am hooked on these Space Operas (which I never liked before this winter) and am waiting for the next one to be delivered so i can continue the story. (Think soap opera, but with science fiction!) DS is reading a good book about pirates - but he will spend his spare time chatting with friends on X-Box. I also start to get nervous about when we can finish up so I have been counting lessons in math and science to see how far we have to go. Looks like middle of May right now.
We just go crazy. You are going to be finished with school in the first week of April? Wow! That is great. If my son didn't drag his feet, we would be finished by then too. Hopefully we will be done by the end of May.
