Matthew is our first born. He is the one who has Crohn's disease. He caught a stomach bug his wife and son had and it has hit him hard. He is feeling better from the bug, but now is in the hospital. He is dehydrated and has a heart rate of around 160 and his kidneys aren't acting exactly the way they should be. The doctor told him last night that everything ties into being so dehydrated. Matthew has problems getting dehydrated because of surgery he had several years ago to control the Crohns. Please keep him in your prayers. He says he is fine, but I can't help but worry about him. Thanks, Beth
Praying. It is never easy to see someone you love not feeling well. Hope he feels better soon and can come home.
Thank you all for your prayers. Matthew is home and feeling much better. He has been told to go back to see his doctor who deals with the Crohns though. He had to swallow a huge capsule about a year ago. It had a tiny camera in it and was supposed to check his intestines. Then it was supposed to pass into the bag he wears because he doesn't have a colon. Anyway the thing never passed. So that doctor left town a couple of months ago and Matthew has to start with a new doctor who deals with Crohns. While in the hospital yesterday they did a scan and "found" the camera capsule right where Matthew has been saying he thought it was. I don't know what they plan to do now, but please pray they can fix this without surgery. He has had enough of that. He is home and the last time I spoke to him he was taking his dog for a short walk. Yay!!
Wow, that's pretty crazy about the camera! I am praying that he continues to get better, and things work out well for him!
Wow! The camera is interesting. I never heard of that before, at least not the swallowing part. I am also praying for a complete recovery.
The camera thing was new to me too. Matthew has strange insides because of his 25 year battle with Crohn's disease. He has no colon or rectum. They took out part of his small intestines too. He is healthy most of the time, but a stomach bug can really wipe him out. He is feeling better now and is home. Now Emily, our youngest, has it. She is eleven and when she throws up she throws up so hard that she gets blotchy red spots on her face that take a couple of days to go away. She got sick around midnight last night and seems to be almost over it now. She has been drinking some and ate some crackers earlier today and some toast this evening. She hasn't thrown up in a few hours so we are thinking she is on the mend. Who will be next? Stay tuned for our next exciting episode of... Stomach Bug Attacks 2010!
Hope they get that camera thing figured out.. it's kind of creepy, but cool in a science-y kind of way. Hope the tummy bug decides to move on to another house for you all soon
Even tho late, prayers for your son! And ((((hugs)))) for you! Apparently the bug is multiplying as the attack has happened here! Why did my steam cleaner have to die??? ARGH!
It seems to have a twin bug across the street at my daughter's house. She is battling it now too. We will win this war on bugzilla eventually! (I hope)
Praying everyone is feeling better and no one else gets that terrible bug. Please don't send it up our way
Yes, I just saw this I think you sent it this way. I just throw it out the window too. I hope everyone is better soon.
Your son has been in my thoughts lately. He is any better? I don't know if you remember or not but my nephew (10) has Crohn's also ( now he has only a small portion of intestines left after a recent surgery) and so I know how painful it can be and how a simple cold can turn very serious. Hopeful all is ok with your son , continued well thoughts are with him from me.
good to hear your son is better. sending prayers your way for his continued better health and for your daughter to feel better soon.
Matthew is better and back at work now. His 11 year old son had a round on Monday but was feeling much better yesterday. I hope that is the end of it. Thanks for all the prayers. Hope nobody else catches this mess!
