Wasnt sure where to post this so here it is!

I need a play that has serious acting, a good moral would be great but I have two boys and about 5 girls who will do serious acting in my class the rest want to be back ground workers and chose to learn that over being on stage.

I plan to have them film some scenes prior to production so we can play them during the scene changes to keep audience busy.
My students are in need of a real play but facing facts they are not so good at acting still. I have seen growth in a couple of them in this area and want them to do the lead rolls, but alas they are girls--- so I thought of Little Women---- but need a high school play of this type?

any ideas? PLEASE someone -- if you answer this give me title, a place to see it either performed on youtube or readable form thanks!

I always vote for Fools or Barefoot in the Park, but I don't think you have a big enough group to do either. With a cast comprised as yours is, you might look into doing a One Act instead of a whole huge play. But that's jmo.

I love Shakespeare, though there is some questionable morality. You could have some of the students do monologues, I always loved doing monologues in drama :D

we studied shakespear early in the year but I found most of them could not read the words let alone speak them with the proper inflection etc, they did not get it, but for three of them who loved it... IF ntohing else we wil do a variety show with skits and dramas mixed but I wanted one good play for our school.... it needs funding and stuff so we want people to think we have a good school , well we do but with more people sending thier kids there more tuition means more classes.. I am a volunteer teacher there trying to make a difference for my dd and the rest of the school. This school has been a full sized strong school with everything to offer in the past but it lost funding back in the 90s and has been struggling to keep the doors open the last few years as the high school and jr high grow the lower levels have dropped drasticly

    Odysseus is a good one.
We just did that one in our co-op. We had all ages in it from 8-14 years old.
The fates are a good part and Athena as well as Odysseus and his men.
The background players will be soldiers and a cyclops (which was played by 2 people to make him look big).
It was alot of fun and had a good story as well.
