Math u see is upgrading their program!! No more comb bindings. Both TM and student book will have a book binding. The student book will have the math on both the front and back of the pages leaving more room to work out the problems. It is also 3 hole punched and perferated so you can take the pages out if you want. The teachers manual will have step by step breakdown of how to work all the problems. I love math u see and didn't think it could get any better. I'm excited over these changes. If you want to know more about them,go to the mathusee website and click on "changes for 2009". I hope this isn't considered an advertisement.. Just thought I would give everyone a heads up.

yeah we got the newsletter, I am glad cause I worry that I will pull the binding when I grab the books too quickly to put them away.
    Thanks!

I too am loving the new improvements, but I'm concerned by how much this will increase the prices...he said there would be an increase but didn't say how much.....if it goes up too much I may have to search out a new curriculum for math. I will wait and see though and if I'm lucky I'll be able to find the tm used and then I can just buy the student books.

I was reading the comments left on the website and came across one left by someone from mathusee. They stated that you would probably be able to download the new things that are added into the teacher book free from their website. If I understood correctly, the student books will have the exact same content as they do now. Only more space to write the answers. The price will probably not increase too much. And I think that it will be well worth it.

Primer-Gamma will come out sometime next month. I'm not sure about the others but it will be sometime this year. I'll bet by the beginning of Aug. or Sept. they will be out. I'm really excited over them. Can you tell??:lol:

Our binding is constantly coming undone on the student text, so this sounds like a good idea to me!

We are missing the last 4 pages of the Gamma book because of the binding. I'm glad they are changing it.

I am new to math u see and thought maybe you all could help. I have been purchasing items over the past couple weeks so that i can start my children on the alpha and hopefully work their way up to Gamma for fall (that is where the placement tests put them). They are currently in 2nd, 3rd one home school the other to be homeschool next year. The FL rep suggested they start with Alpha to get use to the blocks instead of their fingers. Any ways all together I'll have 3 dd using the blocks. I have the starter and completer sets. I know a few of the units are missing. Will this be enough blocks for all of them to use if they do math at the same time or should i buy another set and which one??? Thanks

How did I miss this thread the first time???

Last fall when I purchased Zeta it came with the new binding. I HATE IT!!!! The perforations were not deep enough so I ended up having to tear the binding/glue off, cut the edge of each page off and then put it in a binder. I know we could have left it all together like it came, but the student book is so thick that ds couldn't make it go flat on the table to do his work. Not likin' it. We never had problems with the spiral binding. Not enough dislike to not use it, but it was enough to get really irritated one afternoon!

About the price increase....I only noticed a $5 difference in the student set. I bought my teacher's manuals used from a friend, so I didn't compare those.
