WIC is women, infants and children, a government program she will have to find an office near her house. They give you vouchers for grocery stores that sell common products (not specialty stores), for formula, and eventually rice cereal and other things babies need.

If it is not a specific formula. try using wal mart brand formula or any store brand--they all have to meet specifications for formula. Yes, she needs to get on WIC ASAP!!!
She can not only get the baby formula, she can also get it for herself for the next 6 months since she just gave birth. She could have been on it while she was pregnant. They give you milk, cheese, fruit juices, eggs, cereal, and beans 2x a month. It really helps! I was on it while I was pregnant, for 6 months after (then after the 6 months are up for the mother's wic she can sign up for commodities--the baby can stay on it until he/she is 5 years old!) and my daughter was on it until she turned 5 years. In addition, when you go for your wic appointments, they are VERY helpful in giving advice on the baby's milestones and good nutrition for them. Have her call her local Family Services Office ASAP. Also, I would check into other programs your sister may qualify for (such as food stamps, aid to dependent children, and utility assistance). This is a wonderful thing you are doing by the way for your sister--she is blessed to have you!
    God Bless!

In addition, if she is needing other things for the baby and if she didn't have one, have a "Welcome Baby" or "Bless the Baby" shower for her or maybe just a "diaper pounding" with a few family and friends.
    Blessings,

You can get large quantities for less at Sams Club. The one in our town sells it.

I had wic when my kids were babies...If I remember correctly, it is based on your income. At the time I joined, it was pretty easy to qualify...

Also, do you have a local pregnancy center or anything like that? They usually can help, too!

    amen sister!

I think it is basic on income when I worked for them they ask for income like check stubs, birth cerf. of you and baby that's about it not much. Go for it. It's there if she needs it she needs it.
