my kids went thru withdrawal when we cancelled satellite a couple of yrs ago. they are now big fans of qubo and PBS . I am not against tv(have 4 of them) But I did notice that my daughters wardrobe got way more conservative when we cancelled Nick and Disney!

We are TV free! Neither my hubby or I were raised with one, so it's not a big deal. I think it's a lot better in the long run! :)

1 in my bedroom with DirecTV HD DVR
3 with DVD only in each of the kids rooms
1 in the basement which is SUPPOSED to have my old HD DVR plugged in so we don't have to have "family night" in my room anymore - I love family night but I want my room back. The TV is just as big in the basement....

Got rid of the one in the kitchen which is actually turning out nicely. I had it in there so I could watch TV while I cooked - but noooooo everytime I'd turn around the TV would be on....

I would LOVE to get rid of all our tv's. Or at least get rid of cable. But my hubby is the one that watches the most tv. He works hard and if that is what he wants to do to relax, fine. Much better than him trying to find entertainment elsewhere ;o)

We just got a 52" tv in our bedroom. It's the only tv on the 1st floor and really the only one that gets watched. The whole family hangs out in our room. We have another in the basement family room that gets watched maybe once a week. Then I have one in my studio that never gets watched because I usually prefer to listen to music when I'm torching ;o)

We have one TV, and it's a bit old. Personally, I don't watch TV, but my wife likes to watch the occasional series such as House. We have the extended basic service from the cable company and pay $5 a month extra for the Fox Soccer Channel. (Let me qualify my earlier statement: I don't watch TV except for English soccer matches.) The children tend to watch sports, the Discovery channel, and the like. Our younger daughter watches some things on the Disney channel.

When my wife was expecting our youngest son, we'd sit together each evening and watch Star Trek: The Next Generation. After our son was born, until the age of about 2, the theme music for that show would stop him in his tracks. Clearly, he learned the music in the womb.

I went 7 years without cable but our current house we rent comes with cable. I don't know what I am going to do when we move because I am afraid Dh will never go back to being cable free. I grew up without cable so it was never a big deal for me. DH on the other hand grew up with the TV on 24/7. they literally NEVER turned it off. Didn't matter is no one was watching it.

oh we have 5 TV all together although they are not all hooked up. We have 1 in our room that isn't hooked up to anything (obviously a waste of space LOL). Another in a closet, then we have 1 in the living room hooked up to a cable/DVR box, one in our "bonus" room that is also hooked up to a cable/DVR box. The last one is in the playroom and that is hooked up to the gamecube.

We have two. One in the master bedroom, one in the family room. My kids are allowed one movie a day during quiet time and then I watch a bit at night to wind down. Sometimes we go days without watching and sometimes we watch a bit more than normal. It's monitored very closely and if I feel we have had too much TV time I will announce a TV free day or two. Most of what I watch I record on the DVR and come back to later so that I can skip the commercials. We also netflix.

We have two, one in the living room for the family to watch together (or the children to watch in a place where it's supervised) and a small tv/dvd combo that's in my bedroom and I'll put it in the kids room if we have a sick kid (they can only watch dvd's on it so no worries about inappropriate stuff)

Birbitt, I do wish we had a small combo like that! We use to have a TV/VCR combo that couldn't pick up any channels, really, that we would use sometimes when we had people over. The kids could go upstairs and watch a movie in Rachael's room, with pop and popcorn. But now the VCR doesn't work. It does come in handy!

We are a no TV family. Our children, have been raised without television, so they really don't know to miss it. They are all AVID readers. I think as a result of us never having television, the children all developed great imaginations and have always been very creative; be it through writing, art, music, storytelling, or dance.

We do have the ability to view movies via the computer, however the children will rarely sit to watch one. Hubby and I will occasionally watch a classic movie, but very seldom. The children will sometimes watch something on JOOST or maybe it's HULU? Not sure which one? The one that has classic TV shows? They have just never shown much interest in TV or movies. They would much rather read.

I'm with you. We have TV and a computer in just about every room. Most of the time I have Fox News on, but I can go days without turning on my TV in my room. It is just background noise (except when Lost is on).

I cannot, make that, choose not, to live without technology everywhere. I love it. We are living through the golden age of technological innovation where every few months we make a giant leap forward. I just think it is cool.
