My oldest will be in 4th grade next year and I have no idea what state history curriculum to use! We are in Georgia. Any ideas? *Just a little update since I haven't posted here in ages and you may not remember me. I am mother to 4 sons ages 9, 7, 4, and almost 2, wife to a wonderful husband who is also a pastor (we are planting a church), and caretaker to my mother-in-law who is disabled. We moved from California to Georgia in June last year.
Are you familiar with Notgrass? IMHO they offer the best "formal" curriculum for GA State History. At the Southeast Homeschool Expo last summer, I remember someone selling books and materials about all 50 states. For example, you could buy just a package about the state of Georgia. It was generating quite a bit of interest. I'll go through the brochures I collected at that event to see whether I can find the name of the company. PS - I don't think it was the same material as mentioned above, which implies that relevant material may be available from more than one source.

I used it with my girls a while back. I'll probably use it with Phillip sometime soon, maybe next year. There's a page where you're to put a picture of a historical place. My 6-great g'ma walked up from West Virginia in the 1790's, and a good number of years back, they had a historical marker dedicated to her and to the little corner in Ohio where she settled. I was there at the marker dedication with Faythe, only two months old. Of course, the people taking pictures want pictures of the baby! So in her book, we have the modern-day picture of the marker, along side the picture of her at the dedication. (Though she had to send an e-mail to my uncle, the family genelogist, to find out exactly how many "greats" were needed!)
