answered an ad on craigslist for this NIB Didj from leapster with several games. I am am supposed to go pick it up tomorrow but was bored and decided to look over some reviews for it and was surprised at all the negative reviews. I've already told me kids we are getting the game tomorow but don't want to spend my money on something that doesn't work Really surprised since Leapfrog is usually a great product Anyone have one of these that can give me an opinion? Thanks
My son has one. I think they are fine. The games are not 100% educational, BUT my son will come to me and tell me things he has learned on it, and when he feels he is not being challenged enough he will tell me that I need to move him up a grade on the game. It isn't the best way to get an education, but for us it works when he is feelign overwhelmed with the regular school stuff. It is the ONLY handhelf game system I will allow in our home. I played it for a few days before we gave it to him and I thought it was more educational than some of the other leapfrog products. However, each game is different with how much educational stuff is in them. I like the neopets, and star wars games.
well i picked it up this afternoon $60 brand new with 3 games also new. So far so good... Kids have been playing for a couple of hours and customizing was actually a lot of fun
I think it's a little advanced for a 3 yo. My 4yo can do it, but she needs help, which her brother is more than happy to do.
This is going out of... what's-it-called! I was seeing them all over everywhere at Christmastime for $30 with a game, so I did some research. They've disappeared out of places like Wal-Mart and Target all over the country. All LeapFrog will say about it is that the games "will continue to be available" (but WM and Target both say they won't be stocking them) through Feb of 2011. Then there is some hinting that at that time there will be something coming out to replace it. Apparently it didn't do the things people were expecting it to do according to the advertisements, didn't do it with all the games, or some such issues, and so LF is "updating" and coming out with something else soon. I looked and looked thinking, even if it's going out of production or whatever, it'd be a good deal if we could find more games... but the two games that came with the sets I saw in close-out places like Marshall's and Big Lots were the ONLY games I was ever able to find. I haven't looked since then, but that was a big red flag for me. If I'm not ever able to find any more games than what I see right now - which is two or three total - is it still worth it? We'll be waiting on whatever the new thing is. Also, I'm starting to have some issues with LeapFrog. Yes, the products are generally decent - IF they work properly which is 60/40 whether or not they will. And they won't service their own stuff after a year, no matter what, even if you pay for it. And their CS has been awful to me more than once. :/ But that's totally beside the point.
Did you look on Amazon for games? My husband and I were looking about a week ago and there were several games available.
Well after two days of playing my boys are loving it. I have three games already and my walmart has the games on clearance for $15 so I might pick up a couple more. Even if they don't come out with new ones the games are customizable so i can change what they learn during the game. I downloaded ds's spelling words yesterday and today he wrote them all out for me without hesitation. Love it!!!
I didn't check Amazon - I don't usually shop that way, and since they are going out of production I figure stuff won't be around long anyway. Hope you guys enjoy yours, though, unj!!
