Hi, I am software developer from Texas. I am familiar with homeschooling because my Mother homeschooled my much younger brother for several years and several of my close friends are actively homeschooling their children. I have come up with an idea for a web service I want to build but I wanted to talk to several active home school instructors (who are not afraid of hurting my feelings) prior to investing any time in it. I'm not here trying to promote or sell anything, the service does not even exist at this point anywhere except in my mind. The service I am contemplating would allow a parent or teacher to create work sheets and lesson plans with their web browser. The lessons could then be saved or printed as a PDF or could be taken online like a web survey so that no paper or ink is used for printing and would be able to be graded automatically in some cases. I would also include a optional secure profile for managing a students grades. Then, optionally groups of parents could share the worksheets and lessons with each other so the other families could benefit from the material made originally. Is something that you would find useful? More than anything I would really like to avoid spending time creating this if noone would benefit from it. Thanks you very much for your time, Ian Mechura imechura@gmail.com Dallas, TX
Personally, I'd never use something like that. Someone might, but there is SOOOOOO much stuff out there that is either free, easy, or both, that I wouldn't bother with making my own worksheets, especially if it meant paying for them. A lot of homeschoolers steer clear of worksheets/workbooks entirely.
I can see myself using something like this if it's free. Otherwise, I'll stick with typing up stuff in Open Office and grading it myself. But if it's free (with ads paying for the site), then I think it would be super useful.
Yes, I agree with Amie. I'm always looking at ways to get free worksheets. And often, there's none out there that does EXACTLY what I want. But the key word is FREE. Here are two very good math sites I use for worksheets (I CAN post links, lol!!!): http://www.math-drills.com/ http://themathworksheetsite.com/ I also make wordsearches here: http://tools.atozteacherstuff.com/word-search-maker/wordsearch.php
