Just looking for opinions from those who have used this on it's suitability for a 1st grader!

    Thanks!

I never cared for it, but I think I'm the exception. Can you borrow one to really look closely at? I was able to get one from the library, and that saved me a good bit of money!

I haven't used it personally, but I know a lot of people who have. They've told me they use it because their child is on different levels for different subjects, and it's flexible enough that you can do each subject on it's own level (as opposed to buying a kit with only one level). Does that make sense? Sometimes I confuse even myself. LOL! Anyway, I didn't know about FiaR until I'd already found other things I'm happy with. Otherwise, I definitely would've used it.

I am using it this year, we are almost done with book 2. We really liked it. The stories are great, and often we'd get some go alongs at the library to read with the books! There's lots of ways to use it and it really is wonderful! I was doing first grade with it. I think it could even be used for second grade with a little modification.

I used Volume 1 when my oldest was in K. I loved it. I loved the books. There's also www.homeschoolshare.com which has lots of Lapbook and add on activites to each book, and other stuff.

    :)

We love it! We started Volume 1 this year for 1st and Pre K and they can both benefit from it- I definitely recommend it. Tip- Find the Teachers book on Amazon or Ebay- I found some of the books at the Library too. Good Luck!!

I have also heard Peak with Books is good with more current books. You can find curriculum that goes along with it on www.movingbeyondthepage.com

I also bought the "cookbook" that supplements it, and my son LOVED making the foods for dinner and taking pictures to put into the cookbook. It's much more like a scrapbook than an actual cookbook, but it has recipes for each unit.

We loved it. I didn't use it exactly the way the makers suggested. My purpose for using FIAR was to instill the love of reading to my reluctant reader. He still does not love reading but he did enjoy FIAR.
