If homeschooling doesn't work for us,would we be able to send our kids back to a B&M school? An accredited program is out of our financial means,so how would we prove what levels the kids were at
The school will test your child. The problem is that very few schools will place your child "up" a grade, but they won't hesitate to place them "down" a grade. For example, if your child's age is "third grade" and tests at "third grade", she will be put in a third grade class. If she tests 2nd grade, she will be put in a second grade class, along with making you feel like an idiot for thinking you could POSSIBLY do as well as "they" could when obviously you had no idea what you were doing! If she tests fourth grade, she will be placed in third anyway, and you discover that, while you did a good job teaching, you really should have left it up to the professionals in the first place, because now she won't learn anything for the rest of the year and will have to wait for all her same-age peers to catch up, and wouldn't it have been better to just let US do it all along?
Yep. I pulled my oldest after 1st grade, I just put him back in in Feb. No questions asked. Now some schools will test the kids or whatever... but we didn't have any problems, he is in the correct grade, I just filled out papers like he was a transfer from another school.
I think it depends of the school district that you live in. I was homeschooled for part of high school and did not have to take a test to reenter. But I have heard of people who have had to. So, the only one who can truly answer your question is someone from your school district's office.
