well I got a page to sign up for something?

Whatever it is, I have rarely if ever heard anything come out of Glenn Beck's mouth that I didn't agree with. He is right on the money IMO with his views.

Yea, Glenn had his segment about indoctrination in schools (which was an awesome episode) and the segment that this homeschool station was talking about was the part where he told people that if they want to preserve the nation, it's values, and it's religion then we have to take your kids out of the public school system. He mentioned to do whatever you had to do, and his example was to sell a car if you had to. I totally agree, seeing the school I went to which was EXTREMELY sports oriented. If you weren't in sports then you don't matter. And I don't want my kids to be in the majority that "Doesn't matter". They also mentioned that homeschooled kids score MUCH higher on test scores than public school kids, but that wasn't mentioned on a report that the whitehouse did in 2009. They also reported that kids who are homeschooled tend to keep their religion during their adult years as opposed to their peers in public school who drop their faith after highschool and college. I think they said 85% would loose their faith. How significant?! They also played video about creationism vs evolution, and how the media thinks all home schoolers are religious zealots. Pfft.

yeah..I can see all that being true. People also assume that all homeschoolers are religious zealots. Not sure what makes a zealot though...I'm sure that's a matter of opinion.

Well I'm a fundamentalist Christian and I'm sure many think that is why I'm wanting to start homeschooling, but honestly, religion has very little at all to do with why I am homeschooling. It's a nice added plus that part of his school day can be religion related. But that is way way way donw on the list of reasons why I chose to homeschool. And I HATE the assumption that everyone who homeschools is raising a little cult of unsocialized religious zealots!

Having taught in public schools -- it was always very apparent to me which students were raised by their parents and taught at home vs. the kids that spent time in daycare. Homegrown kids were quicker to learn concepts and dramatically well more behaved.

Yes, MomtoCarli! I do daycare and homeschool what I can during the day and I make sure to have the daycare kids involved too. Parents are always pleased to hear about what their children are learning, and surprised to find out that their almost 3 year old is learning pre school +. Some of these children you can tell get absolutally NO discipline at home and it definately shows during our day. Especially when my children are so well behaved and the select few act like wild rabid monkies.
