MY kids continually amaze me! Last fall we lost a cow. As farmers do everywhere, we dragged her carcass off to the back forty to let nature and the scavengers do their work. This afternoon my girls were riding the 4wheeler back there and when I went out, they had piled a huge mound of cow bones in the driveway. They are planning to try to reconstruct the cow's skeleton! I cannot believe this! I'm grossed out by it, but glad they are interested and curious enough to try. So can we call this school?
Mmmm, what could this be put under. Art? Critical Thinking? Anatomy? The possibilities are limitless. Document it with pictures if you do count it as school. It will be interesting to see how close your girls can come to the cow's true bone structure.
I think it is cool but I would be grossed out too! My ds had his biology lesson while helping is Uncle and cousin gut a deer this past fall.
Very very cool!!! I would consider it archeology (now you can move into the way archaeologists put together a dino skeleton and archaeological digs!!!) Oh and give them a BIG bottle of hand sanatizer..lol
I really miss farm life and that's one of the reasons why. So many more opportunities for learning. What a cool project, you could definitely call it critical thinking...It's an enormous 3D puzzle! (Math too for space)
LOL - of course that is school!!! We have "chicken butchering biology" class every month from May-October
