After trying different math programs, I finally bought TT and Emma LOVES it! I am so glad. I would have been very disappointed if it didn't work out. She actually asks if she can work on math. LOL I am sure that the novelty will eventually die down. But for now, I am allowing her to complete the lessons at her pace which is turning out to be a few lessons a day. The math is for next school year so now she has a head start. We are still going to use LOF, but it will be more of a reader or a FYI type of book. She really likes LOF and so do I, but TT is really working. Just thought I would share.
Yay!!! We really love TT also... it was one subject Garrett never complained about this past year. He was his usual self as far as not putting too much effort in, but he didn't fight me on it either. I feel LOF is best as an addition to something else as well.
TT is working very well for us, too. I won't claim my student loves it - but considering he started out very anxious and hating math, the fact that he doesn't loathe it is a huge step forward. He does roll his eyes at how easy it is, but I've notices that TT is sneaky that way. It'll start with basic principles, and then build on them, until you're suddenly doing something you never did before. And understanding it! One thing we ARE having to work on separately though is his multiplication facts. He doesn't know them, so it's really slowing him down when it comes to moving through the curriculum.
Novelty has not worn off here and my daughter is 10 lessons and 2 quizzes from completing the year! We LOVE LOVE LOVE TT in this house. I don't think I'll ever use another curricula here!
What grade is Ems doing? We have it from Geometry up, but I don't know WHAT I'm doing with Phillip next year. Saxon, which worked for the girls, isn't working with him. (I've thrown it out and am now just getting stuff on fractions from the Net.) TT may be a good choice, but I hate spending that much just for one!
TT has been well worth the money for us. I am extremely cheap and am very glad to put out the money for TT. I am learning the math, pre-algebra, along with my son because I want to help him when he struggles. He is helping me when I struggle! . At least it is building my son's self esteem. My self esteem on the other hand is plummeting
Ems is working on 7th grade TT. Thanksfully I was able to buy it used otherwise Ems wouldn't have it now. Handsome's job has been sooo slow these days that I am trying to find everything used for this coming year. We tried saxon some years ago and I do not know who disliked it more, Ems or me. The year was young so I had to purchase another math program to get us through the year.
Please what is TT? My ds is using the online ALEX program, because we pulled him out of school in March and when we tried to do Saxon he was lost, as they review every lesson and he was not reviewing in school. Anyway it was a mess. ALEX is great, because it tests him and then teaches what he is behind in and everything else he needs to complete the year. I am wondering what we will use next year, so please share. Robin
I am so glad Ems likes it...ever since we switched to TT a couple years ago math has turned into a non-issue. He doesn't even complain about doing math, although he always says he hates math. But he's pretty good at it and I think it is because of the TT style. He's a visual guy. We did pre-algebra this year and I will definitely be buying Algebra for next year. The other HUGE plus is that you can resell your TT for quite a pretty penny and then get almost the full amount to buy your next year's books. So it is really like a one time big investment and then it almost pays for itself.
TT is coming in handy for me too! LOL Ems was so strong in math the first three or four years of homeschooling. Since math is not my strength; I believe it is now reflecting on Ems. While she isn't behind, I can see where my lack of knowledge is starting to impact her. So I am loving TT!!! LOL
Yea! I'm so happy Emily is enjoying it..Isn't it wonderful to find that one thing that just clicks with them?! Michelle
