I sweep the floors everyday because my dog sheds. So every morning after breakfast I sweep the floor while Grace gets ready for the day. I vacuum usually once a week but right now I vacuum everytime we get a call to show our house. We do flylady's swish and swipe routine every morning. I keep a container of clorow wipes under the sink in each bathroom. After I get ready for the day I take one wipe and swipe the whole counter and toilet and my kids take turns doing it in their bathroom. That way the bathroom is never really dirty. I clean tubs once a week. My routine is that everynight before bed I start the dishwasher and every morning I empty it. That way everytime I have a dirty dish it can go right into the dishwasher instead of piling up in the sink. I do laundry on Wednesdays and Sundays usually. I dust when needed. My husband loves that I keep everything so clean but he wouldn't care if I let it go sometimes. It is me. I am the neat/clean freak. I can't stand messes or disorganization. It just bothers me and I have to keep things clean for myself.
the frustrating thing about laundry is that unless everyone is sitting on the couch naked it is continually being generated. My living room and kitchen get cleaned up very nicely every day. The rest of the house....well, just don't try to walk anywhere barefoot.
I went through my kids closets and our garage and I just took a van full, and I mean full sized van filled top to bottom, with clothes, toys, and stuff we haven't seen in years to goodwill. It feels sooooo good!
http://www.flylady.com/ Just today I sat down and made a list of everything that needs to be done around the house all the time. Then I broke that down into daily, weekly, seasonally, and annually. If anyone is interested I can post it. I based my schedule on our new home since we are moving in 6 weeks.
I'd love to see your list! I keep trying to make one of those but always feel like I'm forgetting a bunch of stuff.
Okay. This took a long time to come up with and this is what works for me, or what will work for me. My house will never be spotless and I'm ok with that. It used to bother me but not anymore. It's clean enough that if anyone drops by unexpectantly I'm not too embarrassed. This is my "plan" sometimes this doesn't happen and that's ok to: 1. Swish and swipe(flylady term) bathroom every morning 2. shine my sink every night (flylady for do dishes) 3. Vaccum, sweep, and mop floors every other day 4. Do at least 2 loads of laundry a day to keep the piles away 5. **~~we keep a laundry basket handy to toss stuff in throughout the day. kids sort it and put it away after dinner~~**Helps keep the house from looking so cluttered. Hope this helps, Angela
