I am looking for any ideas or online/printable activites to do with either Farmer Boy or Black Beauty. Any help would be great!!!
Harper collins has an online teaching guide for all the LHOTP books. http://files.harpercollins.com/PDF/TeachingGuides/0064400026.pdf For activities, I would just do some of the things Almanzo did: plant corn, grow pumpkins, teach your kids to weave (his mom did that), cook some of the foods that he liked, etc.
http://www.homeschoolshare.com/farmer_boy.php Homeschoolshare.com has a free lapbook for Farmer Boy. If that address doesn't connect you all you have to do is go to their site. Look under lapbooks and select free lapbooks. Then click on the Misc. category and scroll down to the Little House lapbooks.
Farmer boy is my fav LHOTP book, my son's too. We are currently reading BB too. Very good books. For BB if you are not horse people I might suggest a notebook or some sort of way to find out what different terms mean ( like what is a bearing rein) and different carriages, or things that were going on in that time frame. We are reading just for fun, and ds is learning alot of horse terms because he doesn't know them and ask me, so we look them up. Since the story is written from a horses point of view, you might assign dc to write a short story from another animals POV. OH if I only had more time to do fun things.
