Hello "healthy" friends! Happy May Day to you!

Well, we have nine days to go for our challenge- how have you done? I think I'm going to be at a ten-pound loss... not quite our goal of 15 but something positive to work with! Our weather has been quite disagreeable for outdoor exercise, I'm hopeful that the weather will change soon and that will allow for more walks, etc. Too muddy right now!

Do any of you remember May baskets? I remember making up little items and knocking on friends' doors and RUNNING away... we didn't do May poles, etc where I grew up. I haven't done baskets in years, but may have the kids drop off a couple this year to some friends who could use a pick-me-up. I'll have to see what I've got in my goodie closet.

Just getting us started for the month. Drop in and say hello. MKR, how are you feeling? Can't wait to see everyone!

Drink your water and kiss your kids! MT3

I'm at 10 pounds right now, too. Even three more down would be great!

What did you do for May baskets? The most memorable May Day surprise I remember was when I was out weeding in my flower garden one year and noticed how all my blue bells looked like they had been nipped off by some hungry rabbit.

Soon, behind me I heard the delightful laughter of our precious neighbor girl, who was in kindergarten that year. She was hiding something behind her and asked if I could guess what it was. Sooner or later the truth came out that it was a May Basket, which she had made in school "for someone special."

But then her eyes dropped to the ground as she slowly pulled it out from behind her to show me. "I didn't have anything nice to put in it, though," she said softly. "So I picked your pretty flowers. I hope you won't mind..."

I still tear up when I tell this story. How like our gifts to the Lord! We, in actuality, have nothing to give Him which wasn't His first! Sometimes when I feel good about something I've done, I celebrate by telling my heavenly Father thanks, because it was His first, and I've just had the pleasure of plucking something from His garden to give back to Him!

Happy May, everyone! Happy celebrating of Mother's Day! This has already been a great one for me. One of our daughters invited me to watch a movie with her about a family built by adoption. She is my daughter by adoption, and we were both in tears before it was over.

'Drinking my water and kissing my kids and grandkids!

    Hi!

I'm just stopping in to wish everyone a blessed Mother's Day! I hope you are pampered a little and enjoy your day! I'm not quite sure what all is being planned- I think I will check later to make sure that it is SOMETHING! lol

So, how did everyone do for their goal? I made it to a nine-pound loss. Not quite what I was looking for, but I will be happy with that! We have begun baseball season, and in the next three weeks I think we have 18 games- so meals will definitely take some planning so we aren't always in a drive-thru line!!

    Have a wonderful weekend.

I'd say it was a successful challenge. I stayed at 10 pounds down--about where I was last year this time, before I started fixing summer meals for four hungry, hard-working teenagers. THANK YOU FOR SEEING THIS THROUGH! I'm eager to hear how the rest of the group did.

Thank you for the Mother's Day blessings, and same to you! It's been a great day!
Have a happy, safe baseball season!

To sum up a little bit here...

One of the last things we heard from Deena was that she was getting treatments for her headaches and neck/shoulder pain. I'm hoping the exercises will help develop the curve she needs in her neck for support and that bone spurs will be prevented. 'Praying that she's headache-free and continuing to enjoy workouts at the gymn.

Patty is still incorporating more veggies and is walking her beautiful dogs, and her slacks are getting downright baggy by now!

Mykidsrock has rid her house of junk food, but the last we heard from her, I believe, she was stuck on a plateau. Any ideas for getting off of one of those? (PS 'Editing this to say: No wonder! She was pregnant! 'Praying for you!)

Minthia, have you kept up with jogging/running 3x a week for at least 2 miles? This is a good time of year to do that.

Leissa started better habits by cutting down on coffee and parking farther away from the store. She has a baby and a three and four year old, so those walks burn a lot of calories!

Fairfarmhand got inspiration to exercise with thedailyplate website. She's probably lost the 10 pounds she gained with her last baby by now.

And gardenturtle's little one is due in April!

That leaves you and me, MT3, to celebrate our collective weight loss of 20 pounds! Keep up the good work, and enjoy all of your summer activities!

I'm here! WooHoo! Sorry for the long absence! This is my favorite place on Homeschool Spot, so I came here first! :D

I woke up the Thrsday before Mother's Day with my lower back, upper "bum" area hurting. It got worse and worse, and by Mother's Day morning I could hardly stand it. So, we went in to our HMO's Urgent Care. They diagnosed Scatica, but I'm thinking that's not it. Anyway, I was in such pain that they gave me a shot. I forget the name, but she said it was like extra strength Ibuprofen. It helped!!! It was a PA that I saw, and she also gave me some meds to take. I got qeasy after taking them, and felt awful the rest of the day, then got throw-up sick that night. So yeah, NOT the best Mother's Day I've ever had! :p

My Chiropractor was on vacation while this was going on, so when he got back I went to him for an adjustment. That helped a LOT too! It's almost all better now, and I'm doing exercises to help strengthen the muscles around there.

SHOCK: My oldest turned 19 on May 20! DS16 is almost done with his sophomore year in highschool! DD is finishing up her schoolwork and will be in 9th grade next year! :O Aaaahhh! How did that happen? I'm not older than I was when they were little! :D

I lost about 2-3 pounds. I am on a plateau and can't seem to move any direction! And I'm NOT pregnant! ;)

    Hugs to all of yoU!

Hey Deena! I have back problems like that and I have bad disks. Did they check for that? When the pain gets really bad and i move too fast or in the wrong direction it spasms, and the pain is terrible!!!!! I know how you feel. :/

    Hi!!!

    Welcome back Deena!!

So good to see several people popping in- please continue to stop by. This is officially the May/June post now- as we have activity going! Welcome!

Deena, glad to hear that you are on the mend. Amazing how those kids grow up on us and we don't age.... ;) The same thing is happening in my house as son #2 is trying to be taller than me! Son #1 is taller than his uncle now! It sounds like the kids are doing well.

Hi Patty- how are things going with you? I see you around the board a bit, but I've been in and out this month too. Lots going on at our house.

Hi Meg- thanks for stopping in and offering advice! Come by again!

Waving to our other "friends"- pop in and say hi! P.H. did a lovely job of summarizing where our group was- thanks P.H.!

I am looking forward to summer, and outdoors, and fresh fruits and veggies, and warmer weather!! We have still had days in the 50's and 60's, windy and wet! It is about 72 right now and feels great! But thunderstorms are coming...

    Talk to everyone again soon!
Drink your water and kiss your kids-

Thanks! :) Missed you guys too!

Really, Patty, I was giving you a chance to catch up with me, post-wise! I see you're getting there, but you'll have to put in a lot more effort! :D

Hi Meg! No, they didn't check discs. Where is your pain when it does that? Is it off to one side or in the middle or what? It's doing better now. Sometimes I wake up in the night with my lower back hurting, but nothing like what it was for awhile there.

MT3--My oldest is 5'10", my 16yo is 6'2"! My dd is around 5'3" now. She's wearing a size 8 shoe! And I am NOT older, I'm NOT! ;)

PH--I can't get the curve back (too old/too late), so my chiropractor is working with the muscles. Some were all stretched out, some were short and tight, so they have to be worked with to be more equal and do their job of holding up my head better. It's amazingly better already! I rarely have neck and shoulder pain now! Course......now we're working with the back!

It's a beautiful, sunny day here! LOVE it after so much rain and so many clouds!
