I was wondering, just 'cause I'm so excited that I don't have to be up before 6AM anymore in a couple of weeks! LOL I don't want to sleep all day, mind you. But I don't have to be up at the crack of dawn anymore either! We do have to be at co-op classes (come Aug) at 11AM on Mondays, and at play group or story time by 10:30 AM on rotating Fridays. Before we get to them I'd like to fit in our morning routine which I plan to include, a little free time for the kids to play, breakfast, 10 min yoga workout and a daily children's devotional. So what time do you usually get up? What time do the kids get up? What time does 'school' start?
I usually get up at 6am. The boys eat breakfast at 7:15 and then begin their chores. School starts at 9:30 after morning chores and devotions.
My 2 are usually up at 7 or 7:30 -- I like to do some light chores, let them relax/play for a bit and we try to get started by 9 a.m. Although, sometimes its a little later because my oldest loves to walk to his grandparents and eat breakfast/visit for a bit. But the majority of time we aim for 9. I've found if we start any later -- we will just be getting things accomplished and it will be time to stop for lunch...but starting at 9 - we are ready for a good lunch break. Have fun planning! It is all so excited (and nerve wrecking) but you are on the right forum to help you get your mind around it all!
We often don't start until after lunch and lunch is sometimes finished at 3 or 3:30. My boys are just finishing up school right now. I usually get up anytime between 8:30-10:30 depending on my toddler. My boys have free time in the morning. Sometimes we start school at 10 or 11, but not often. I can't imagine starting at 8. I should mention that my husband doesn't start work until the afternoon so it makes sense for the boys to have free time in the morning. That may be changing soon with a change in his work hours. I try to coincide their free time with the time my husband is off of work.
I'm thinking if we get up at 8 that will give us time to get ready, have breakfast, do yoga and devotional and leave them free time before leaving at 10 on Fridays (10:30 on Mondays), so I'm thinking maybe school will start at 10 on the other days....I think that's a reasonable goal....most days LOL
The reason why we start so early is to have us all up and having breakfast with Daddy! If he's home and sleeping in (like sick or something), so are we!
Dd gets up between 6:30 and 7:30. I get up between 7:30 and 8 (whenever dh leaves for work). We normally start school around 8:30-9:00 depending on if I have to go over Calculus with sd or not. Next year we will probably start around 9 most days. When we have friday co-op (10 weeks in fall/10 weeks in spring) we have to be there by 8:15-8:30ish so I am up by 7 those days.
I like to let ds wake up when he feels like it. Makes it easier on him. He is not tired or grumpy. He is usually up around 9am. There are days that he is up at 5:30 but those are not too often. We start school work about 30 minutes after he gets up which gives him time for breakfast and to get dressed.
We start around 10ish. After breakfast and chores. Sometimes DS like to ride his bike around the neighborhood for exercise before school too. The later start time gives me time to get going as well. We aren't morning people at all! That is one thing I will never miss, getting kids up and ready for school at 6am. YUCK!
We start as early as possible. I like to have the work completed but noon. Now that Ems is getting older and Handsome's work is unpredictable, things are changing. His next job is supposed to be stable for a few months or more so we will go back to an early to bed and early to rise schedule.
We aren't morning people. I let the boys sleep until they wake up, usually between 8:00 and 9:30. We eat a relaxed breakfast and then start school when we are ready. usually about 11. We are either done or break for lunch at 1:30 for lunch and Zoboomafoo.
