My DS is turning 3 in July! Where has the time gone? Just yesterday I was holding him in the palm of my hands!:lol:

    Anyway,

We want to get him one big thing for his birthday, and we want it to be educational, but fun like a Leap Frog game system or something. I know some of you have some leap frog things, can you tell me what would be good to get him? I'm a little lost, b/c there are SO MANY Leap Frog things for young children. I was hoping some of you with experience can give me some insight!

    Thanks a bunch guys!!!

My girls always loved the Leapfrog Dvd's once they hit age 2. My son enjoys watching the dvd's also. He likes playing the leapster. I didn't buy this for him but it's been passed to him from my older dd who received a nintendo ds. He really enjoys it. Loves the Cars game, sonic, etc.
He also likes the little pad that they have which is tracing letters with a special pen. Darn I forget what that's called but he loves that thing, calls it his UPS pad. (it looks like the pad the UPS man brings with him).
We do have the Leapad left over from the girls but he doesn't have much interest in that one.
That's pretty much all we have Leapfrog wise around here.

DD3 got the myfirst LP when she turned 2. It was a bit above her motor skills then, but it did help them and now she plays the games like a pro. We might do the next step up - is that the leapster? this coming C-mas - she'll be almost 4 then. I've been very impressed with the quality, long life of the batteries, and how it is GREAT for trips! Buy it!!! :)

My oldest son got that leap frog video game (geared toward older kids really-kinda think gameboy but educational) but he was so into video games, he loved it and learned a lot from it without knowing it. (like how to do simple addition problems)

My current 3 1/2 year old has no clue how to work it LOL

They both liked the books that talk and have activities. We have 2 different leap frog things like that. You buy a book/cartridge set for them. Use the pen (I think only one of them has a pen, I think you use your finger for the other) to touch things on the page. Has different levels for different ages. I forget what they are called.... LOL I'm not much help! But they both loved the book thingys...
