Does anybody have an opinion on these two programs? Look like they are taught in the same format. DIVE looks stronger academically. Does any ody use these?

We used Teaching Textbooks for our sixth grader this year and liked it very much. We will be using TT again next year. I don't know anything about DIVE.

I spent a little time looking at DIVE. It sounds like you buy the DIVE plus Saxon in order to use DIVE. It is a Christian curriculum. It sounded very interesting to me and it did sound more advanced than TT. I only looked at it for a few minutes so I am just going on what I saw in a very short time. I will be interested in what others have to say who have already used DIVE or have spent more time looking into it. To me it sounded like Saxon being taught by someone using a smart board.

Patty, what level did you start Ems on TT? Phillip is going into 5th grade, and I'm not sure what to do with him for next year.

Never tried DIVE, but TT has worked wonderfully for Rachael. We've done Geometry, Algebra II, and Pre-Cal.

Ems recently started TT7 for next school year. We finished our year early and she likes TT so much that she started next years math early.

My problem is the cost. I don't mind investing that much with math for Rachael, because I figure Faythe and Phillip will use it. But I'm not keen on paying that price for just one, even though I know there's a good resale value.

I have put off purchasing TT for a year or two due to the cost. This year I was going to pass on it again since Handsome's work comes and goes these days. But, I was able to buy it on sale.

We've used TT 5 this year for my daughter. She finished it last week! YAY!!!

We WILL be using TT 6 - she'll start soon - probably mid June. We borrow from a friend of mine right now and just buy the workbook.

We LOVE TT. I will be buying the appropriate level for my son. TT 3 just came out...planning on getting that for him and testing where he'd be and then move him onto 4. I plan on starting to buy and know that I will use for my youngest when she gets there.

    :)

DARN, Krista! That means you wouldn't be interested in selling your 5, lol!

OK, I need some questions answered. I know how the older levels work, but I understand the younger ones are different. With Rachael, she can listen to lectures on computer, or read the book or both. She prefers reading the book, and if she has trouble, she'll listen. But that means that she can do her math at the church or waiting for an appointment or something. SHE CAN TAKE IT WITH HER.

Now, you can't do that with the lower levels...? It has to be done ON the computer, and it has to be done on the computer it's installed on...? So all the problems are actually on the computer and you put the answers on the computer...? So he couldn't take his math with him to the church or piano lessons...?

Emily is in TT 6. Her book has the lesson to read or she can watch it on the video. We use the video because she likes it. It could be done without it though.

So you don't have to answer the questions on the computer?

you get an answer book, so if you don't put it on the computer you just check it yourself.

But for the younger grades, it is more fun to enter in because there are cute characters that clap and jump and stuff when they get it right. You do have to enter the answers on the computer that you have the progam installed on.

AH! So when he's home he can do it directly onto the computer, but if he's going to be gone, he can do it into the answer book and later transfer it onto the computer. Right?

    Almost,

The answer book I was referring to is just a book with all the correct answers in it.

When my girls do their lesson away from the computer, they do it in the textbook - or make copies of the textbook pages and do them there. sometimes they transfer them to the computer, but not always (they are older now and aren't as excited by the little avatars) Then I use the answer book to check them.
