Ok, I am still trying to get organized to my satisfaction. I noticed that in everyone's hs rooms there are bins, bins, and more bins. So, now I've got me some, and not sure what would be the more beneficial thing to use them for
ok, in my bins I have crayons in one, other writting wiht color things in another. This is because they melt! I have paper bins, they are empty the paper is on the shelf! lol odds in ends stuff in others, Science bin, file holder bin
I don't have any bins LOL I just have those storage drawer thingys. http://gapeachhomeschool.wordpress.com/2010/04/25/classroom-cleaned/ 1st photo my cabinet. Not much in there right now, but it'll fill up I'm sure! LOL 2nd photo The drawers int eh corner are paper craft supplies. I used to make and sell handmade cards and tags, saved everything so we could make a ton of lapbooks/notebooks. The one under the table is large craft items (vase, flower pots ect) and a drawer full of ribbion/yarn/string. 4th photo - the chest of drawers is non-homeschool stuff. It's mine and hubby's stuff. The drawers on to of it is cardstock and scrapbooking paper. the next 2 set of drawers is one set for each kids. Each kid has a drawer for worksheets, one for books and one for activities/games/projects/crafts, ect. It's so they can 'control' what work they do when....Next set is their together stuff (Bible/religion) and more paper. Lots of scarpbooking paper and cardstock! LOL The 4 drawer cabinet is for school. I have some printouts filed for use next year. One drawer is full of workbooks, another drawer has flashcards and more workbooks, and one drawer is empty. The 2 drawer file cabinet is our bills, tax returns, ect.
We do not have bins. There are shelves in our armoire and I added a smaller bookshelf to it. I removed the coat rack to make room for the shelf. I also have a small plastic drawer (sp?) that hold pencils, tape, staples, etc... I will try to get a picture of it today and post it.
We mostly have pencils (my daughter goes through a lot of them because she loses them LOL), glue sticks, scissors, rulers, markers . . . Mackenzie is in kindergarten so we use a lot of those things.
I don't have bins, but I have those plastic drawers. There are three drawers. Each child has one, and can store pretty much whatever they want in them. Then I also have a seven-drawer one. THESE ARE LABELED!!! Colored pencils in one, markers in another (in three zip lock bags...permanent, dry erase, and high lighters. "Regular" markers are in another container. One drawer has tape, scissors and glue. One has new school supplies, etc. Also baskets filled with books are all over my house!
My bins hold crayons, colored pencils, markers, one for teacher stuff (stickers, pens, pencils, dry erase markers, sharpies, etc), one for scissors and glue, one for small art pieces like google eyes, glitter, sequins, foam shapes and other tiny stuff, I also have paper bins that sit empty because the paper is on the middle shelf of the armoir.
I have one of those stacking drawer things. I keep things that we use on a regular basis in it. Like staples, paperclips, erasers, highlighters, computer paper and cardstock, opened packages of notebook paper and extra pens. We have a very small bookshelf that came from walmart that houses all of our curriculums teachers manuals we are using. One of the shelves has 2 plastic storage boxes that keep extra school supplies like glue, pencils, crayons, dry erase markers in. We buy when walmart clearance school supplies I have them each labeled so I know what is in each and don't have to go digging in them and NOT find what I'm looking for. Then on top of our larger bookshelf I have some bins that we keep things in that we use occasionally, like our Judy Clock and counting bears, and the microscope.
I am such an Amateur.. I was thinking that people could just post their pictures under the COMMENT section of the "Organize..." post, but I'm not sure that it works. I'm totally new to this blog thing..
ummmbins? Drawers? Nope. I have 1 green bin with file folders in it, 1 for each day (numbered, not labelled-because we don't hs on particular days) with their seperated wkbk work. A laundry basket (also green to differentiate it) for the library books. The current required reading books (there are 2; 1 each) are on a corner of the mantle. The schoolbooks have shelves. The "done" work goes in a large brown envelope with their name on it - which is also in the green "bin" - at the back. I did get a small plastic bin type doodad from target-it has 3 compartments that snap together - with a top that has a handle. The children can take it to the table to do arts and crafts-but it too is on the shelf when not in use. It holds all the art supplies.
this is a great thread, I am downsizing to one this year and getting rid of EVERYTHING! I like the idea of one bin! I have one with stuff we saved, but I want less of everything
I don't have any bins. I have a four-foot shelf with books that we will use or have used this year. I also have an apple crate with books that we use every day. What I use most are three ring binders and Pee Chee type of folders. When my children were younger, I had a couple of drawers with craft supplies. In another room in the house, there are three large bookcases filled with books, mostly homeschool books. Always wished I had a large chalkboard or dry erase board. I do have a small one, 2 x 3, that can be set on the kitchen table. My son groans every time he sees it. Today there was a lot of groaning .
I have bins and drawers. In my bins I have the supplies we tend to use everyday such as pencils, erasers, paper, rulers, staplers, paper clips, and etc. In the drawers I have tons of art supplies just waiting for creative moments. Then I have two large science bins that are full of magnifying glasses, bug catchers, prisms, rock hammer, magnets, models of the human body, brain, and frog. Finally I have a math bin full of counting bears, clocks, play money, unifex cubes, tangram shapes, dice, flashcards, and math bingo games. I love having our supplies in bins where the kids can reach them whenever they want them.
