I just got together our plans for the summer last night. I still have some stuff to do to complete our plans but it looks like we'll have fun (a lot of it thanks to our great library).

Monday: Ocean class about animals at library
Tuesday: Watercolor class and drama club at library
Wednesday: I want to do some fun geography stuff and dd has karate
Thursday: We'll be doing Latin (mainly games)
Friday through Sunday we'll take off

We'll also do our library's summer reading program, our church's VBS and nature study throughout the summer. I'm looking forward to a fun but educational summer. How about you?

We will be doing LA and Math every other week this summer. Then we also have T-ball at the beginning, we will be doing lots of camping. So that means nature walks and studies.

Other than that we really don't have too much planned. Our library doesn't do a summer program for reading or really anything.

Yours sounds so fun! Have a great time.

Our "summer term" started Monday. We're doing 6 weeks of school, 2 weeks off for camp, another week of school, 2 weeks off for camp, 2 weeks of nothing, and a week of VBS before starting the Fall term. School this summer will be writing, math, reading, geography, latin, and health (and of course, Bible). Fun stuff will be Regal free movies, Library book club, HS group field trips, time with family/friends, and stuff like that. We have a ton of stuff planned.

We have a few camps scheduled, Drama and church for Jazz. Rock climbing and maybe church for Dutch...He wants to go to an overnight camp, but it is the week of the 4th...so I am not sure. oh, and Golf camp for Dutch...maybe Jazz.

Jazz may help for VBS...Dutch may go...depends on the week.

We are reading the Red Pyramid together...but I am not sure they won't bail on me and just read it themselves. lol

I have some workbooks stuff for math...and ocean stuff for science so if we read and do that stuff a bit, I usually give them 1-2 "days" credit a week. (all we have to count is days) I figure I will start with the ps in August. I need to figure out if the band teacher will let slide a two week vacation in Sept. I guess I don't care either way, but if it is going to be a huge problem we may skip band next year.
(we are taking dd to school in OR, then driving down the coast. :)...so the oceanography will fit right in there.)
Heres to wishing we lived on the East coast this year for American History. lol

Jazz is growing out his hair for locks of love, so fend off dad's frustration till we get to 10 inches. (Jazz is hoping at the end of the summer so his look will be a dramatic change for "school"...which is band.) at 7"...3 more to go.

We finish up the year on May 31.
There will be a Wed. night Youth program every week at my sister's pool.
On Tue. and Thurs. there is a skating activity at the local skating rink.
In June we have a week of VBS and everyone in our family is helping with that. I am helping with crafts again this year. I like doing that because I get to tell a story that goes along with each craft.
In July all three of our kids who are in Youth get to go to camp for a week.
We have a family trip planned in August that we are all looking forward to.
The girls have math to do this summer and we will still be reading.
They volunteer at a food pantry three days a week for three hours each day.
We have a young girl at our church who is home alone every day and we are planning on picking her up and having her come swim and spend the day with our girls one day a week this summer if her mother agrees.
We are really praying that we will get a visit from Bobby this summer too. He is supposed to be home from Afghanistan late in July. We will see.

We have ended up taking more days off than we expected this year so we are going to be schooling through June (at least). We haven't made any definite plans yet. I expect our library will do a summer reading program so we will do that. We camp any chance we get, although we are so involved in church stuff right now it is harder to get away. We will spend time at Yellowstone and hopefully make it to a few other national parks, but no trips planned yet. VBS will need lots of attention, A friend and I lead it at our church. I have thought about schooling year round, but my boys think they need a summer vacation, even though they have never been to a traditional school. Maybe we watch too much Phineas and Ferb ;)

We're going to be doing Math every day. :) I can't stand Math brain drain. AND my 3rd grader (going into 4th) will need to get some math done b/c he's behind (well, he's not working grade level....not that he's behind).

We're also not going to finish our history this year, so the historical fiction I had planned is not going to get done, so I figured that would be their summer reading. I'm not NOT moving onto what I have planned for next year...refuse. I will be using a bit of the History Channel's Story of Us stuff this summer too....maybe to help finish up (when it gets to the periods that we're not getting to). Just to help finish it up for them.

My son will do Karate, my two daughters will continue in gymnastics (oldest will be 4 days a week!).

    We'll also swim, for fun.

And art...my kids always do art.

    :)

Our summer plans are to ease into homeschooling.

My son has 8 more days of public school. (Praise God!) We'll sign up for the library's summer reading program that Friday after school (his last day is just a 1/2 day) And the Borders reading program. (and maybe the pizza hut one...I dunno yet) I dont' want to put too much on him and I'm only going to let him count each book for one program.

I'll give him one week off.

The next week we'll start our morning routine. Breakfast, devotional and a 10 minute yoga workout. He can also play computer games whenever he wants. We'll read a lot. But nothing structured. Just child led learning. Maybe some educational DVDs from Netflix.

After a 2-3 weeks of just that, we'll start a unit study on leaves. I got this http://www.hshighlights.com/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=67 and this http://www.hshighlights.com/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=16

And we'll alternate the leaves unit study with a unit study on Where the Wild Things Are http://www.hshighlights.com/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=335 or the velveteen rabbit (I haven't decided which one yet I think we'll read both and let him decide)

And now, since someone on here was nice enough to share a free trial, we'll also do ABC reading eggs.

We'll have Cub scouts on Tuesdays. Playgroup and library on Fridays. My oldest also is really good at and enjoys the origami classes at the library (I think it's every other Tuesday) so he'll do those. And the we'll do the random Library activities during the summer. And we'll try to find some free field trips for weekends or evenings. (like last Friday we went to see a band in the park downtown. Our local nature center has some free and very cheap learning activities for $3-$5 per person or $9 per family, so we'll do the free ones and the ones we can afford at the time) WE'll go swimming and camping and go for walks and picnics....

I plan to start out slow, not requiring much and ease him up to our state required 4.5 hours a day by the start of our official school year in Aug.

We won't finish our school year until late July. My boys will probably have a month off of school before we start the next school year. I don't plan on doing anything structured during the month off of school.

We are moving to a 200 acre farm in 3 weeks. So this summer we are going to play in the creek, fish in and have picnics by our pond, finishing painting the garage, figure out where our fall garden will go, plan our landscaping and enjoy the heck out of not living in the subburbs!

I give up doing any real school work during the summer!

In June, Faythe and Phillip have camp; Phillip has Bible School. The end of June we go to Sandy Cove for their Homeschool Week.

July is Rachel's busy month. She'll be going with our sister church's youth group on a mission trip to Jamaica. They'll be presenting a Bible School down there (among other things), and the kids are planning on presenting it first to the kids at our sister church. So the first week of July will be planning for that, the second week of July will be actually teaching it, the third week will be in Jamaica, and the last week she'll be at AWANAS camp (going a day late, because it starts the day she comes home from Jamaica).

August I hope will be kick-back-and-enjoy month!

Some point over the summer, another church does a Soccer camp. Don't know when it will be, but Phillip LOVES it! (They do this in place of Bible School!)

Same old, same old. We school all year round, so we'll be doing pretty much what we always do. We will have VBS in there; but since it's in the evening, it won't affect us too much.

We'll also still have our homeschool group weekly activities and our weekly karate classes. So, we have a lot of fun all year round. :)

SCHOOL!! We've had too many life happens days this year. I hope to be done at least early July so we can have 6 weeks off.

Summer is really busy though. I have three on a summer swim league and 4 weeks of various camps for my Boy Scout.

This summer is going to be different for us. We normally follow our regular school schedule right through the summer months so we can take time off throughout the year as needed. All we have left right now of our 2nd grade curriculum is about 3 weeks of math work. It's been a pretty tough year for us, school-wise. Josh was being very difficult for a while.

So, I think we're going to try something different this summer. We're going to leave the 3rd grade curriculum until the fall, and instead spend time doing fun stuff as a family and really nailing the 2nd grade stuff. I'd like to incorporate some fun games to help Josh get his addition/subtraction/multiplication facts memorized. I'd also like to get him journalling/blogging. I think that will help boost his confidence going back into a school routine in the fall.

I'd also like to work on Asher's letters/beginnning phonics before officially jumping into kindergarten with him.

Other than that, we've got the regular summer extra-curricular activities. Soccer 4 nights a week (2 per each older kid). Vacation Bible School. Church & Sunday School.

I have my kiddos signed up for sport/day camps. When not in camp we will be at the pool. Was told it gets really hot/humid and many who stick around go to the pool. When it's too hot we will retreat inside to do a little schooling. Mostly math and reading.

We're having a new baby this summer. :D

My older two kids are going to day camp through the rec dept for seven weeks....it runs 9-11:30. We might do swim lessons as well, but the schedule for that hasn't been released yet.

For school I think I will just try to do two days a week with Beth...her work only takes like 45 minutes a day anyway. We are keeping with our normal schedule until summer camp starts though, and that's not till the end of June. We'll probably also do the library's summer reading program. Other than that I've just got lots of outside time and swimming planned for the whole family. I don't know that we'll be taking any trips with the baby due in July...maybe in late August or September we can squeeze some things in before it cools back down.

We will be doing a little bit of everything, but primary focus will be on Spanish, Reading, and more arts & crafts.
