Hey everyone! It's been awhile as life has been a LITTLE crazy around here.

I tested this past week and got the results emailed to me...

Alexis rocked - 98% missing only 4 - so no big deal

Jake decided to "barely read" the language arts portion and not pay attention and got 21% only because of LA.... seriously.....

We are making him pay to retake it. I know I could submit it since it's above 20% which is what the state requires - but I'm ticked. He didn't read directions which is the ONLY thing I can figure out. He did just fine in math.....

    UGH!!!!

I'm back into thinking that I will enroll him in Seton just to have it all laid out and I'm sorry - this is your work - do it.....type attitude. We dropped Seton around the time the foster girls got here and we kinda floated through the rest of the year. I LOVE Tapestry of Grace... seriously love it.... but I don't think I can do it like that this year. If he finishes the entire 8th grade through Seton and Alexis the 5th grade... then all I would need to submit would be their report cards and I can be done with testing. Something has to give at this point....

Making him pay to take another test...that is a moment of parental genius!

I bet he won't pull that trick again! I have to say it sounds just like something Matthew, our oldest, would have done.

THat is a great idea! I once had a teacher tell me my IQ test was just for fun not to worry about it they just said we had to take it.. well I took her seriously and did not finish the test.. fortunately it was in another country and I never saw the grade but I am sure my parents were in shock when they saw it! Lol

When is Jake's birthday? Honestly I think he and my 13 YO ds may have been separated at birth!!! LOL.
I wish I could give advice, but am seeking the same. We hit a wall, and put him in private school for 8th. We are now petitioning the school to allow him to repeat 8th, but they are reluctant since he is passing. GRRR!!!
NO WAY can he go to HS. Like yours he is very gifted, as consistent with previous years of testing, but has decided that growing up is inconvenient.

They are stalling us for an answer (they put off each date they promised an answer- jan 31, April 1, April 30, week after that, end of that week, etc.) I guess they are now waiting to see his final grades.

If they will nto give him a spot in 8th we will probably bring him back here?

Sorry to sort of hijack, but just wnated you to know I feel your pain, and will pray for ya.

LOL - I thought it was genius too (except the boy does have a bunch of money from working)....

Looking at the grading - seriously - it was so poor in JUST comprehension and it brought his % down SOOO much - I know he just decided not to read the paragraphs (idiot)....

I don't care if he goofs it and gets average (40-60%) - but 21% was just stupidity on his part.... granted he did get 88% last year and he colored in the circles in a pattern....

My husband never liked taking tests when he was a kid. He thought they were just stupid and never tried. May be it is a male thing.
