Someone stole Olivia's bike right out of our driveway in broad daylight. My husband took the bike out and left it right by the garage. He needed to get the lawn mower out and the bike was one of a few things blocking it. I wasn't home, so no car in the driveway. My husband went inside for something or other and the kids were also inside. When they came out, the bike was gone. Just like that! He was inside for over an hour or so. To think, we used to tell the kids NOT to leave their bikes out after bikes were left out for over a day and nothing happened. It makes me so mad. We got the bike last year, and didn't expect to have to buy another one for quite some time since it was a 24 inch. We bought it brand new...she was so excited. She rides her bike all summer long. It is one of the few outside things that girl does. Just makes me so mad. We just do not have the money to buy a new one now. Maybe we can find one at a garage sale or Craig's list for the time being.

Anyway, sorry for the vent but it really made me mad. I know these things happen.

I would post on Craigslist under lost and found, describe the bike and what happened, maybe someone saw something, or if a child took it, maybe their parents will see the post. More than likely it won't help, but it couldn't hurt.
Hope you get your daughters bike back!

Sorry that happened, the feeling of being robbed and violated is such an uncomfortable feeling.

We had our Suburban broken into and all of my asthma rx's and nebulizer were taken. I had just refilled my RX's for three months. That's pretty disgusting too!

    (((( ))))

I'm so sorry you have to go through this, AvaRose! We've had stuff come up missing too - our garage is attached to our house, but it has no door, completely open on one side. Actually caught a guy stealing a can of gas once.

Bobby's bike was stolen out of our driveway when he was still home and it made us all so angry. We live in such a small town you would think we would have seen it somewhere, but we never did. I am so sorry this happened to you.

DANG it, AvaRose!! I know how you feel though. I do a home daycare kind of thing, and on really hot, or rainy days I open the garage so the kids can play in there while still getting some fresh air. Well After playing for 30 minutes I took the kids inside, and got them settled upstairs w/ snacks and I forgot I left the garage door open. Go back in there to close it, and EVERYTHING is in a shambles. The neighborhood kids (who roam our neighborhood and destroy things like a pack of wild dogs) had sifted throug our garage for toys and stole our Little Tykes Pick-Up truck. Thankfully later that day, we saw them playing with it, very roughly, down the street. They didn't tell us where they lived so DH and I started knocking on doors and finally found a parent. WHat was so sad was that the parent acted so non-chalant and so "whatever" about it. You would think if you saw your kid playing with a toy you didn't buy that you would be suspicious, like playing with a big pick up or a bicycle for instance. Isn't that sad?? I do feel sorry for you, and I would keep an eye out, and don't feel bad about knocking on everydoor in the neighborhood to get that bike back. :/

Sorry to hear about the bike being stolen. It is so frustrating. Surely it was some kids. If you have a picture of the bike and can knock on door, perhaps that would help. I feel bad for your daughter.

My daughter had her bike stolen at the library in our small town. I always told her to lock it because some people would steal. She never locked it. One day as she was coming out of the library, she saw a boy riding off with her bike. My daughter went running after him. He saw her and finally dumped the bike on the side of the street. She was able to retrieve the bike.

    THAT SUCKS!!

We have some creepy people that live near us (one is a drug dealer-and I'm not just saying that...I've watched him do deals when I was working late at night....and the undercover cops that are investigating the house have stopped at my house when I had the kids out inthe morning...but I digress) and I have to be RIDICULOUS about making sure nothing gets left out. It's horrible.

I feel so bad for her - wish I could send a bike your way. In fact-I will pray a new (whether used or not) bike heads your way to make up for it!!

I am so sorry this happened to you. It's so irritating. The first time our kids bikes were stolen hubby had put them in the back of his truck to keep it from happening but also to make the kids think they were stolen. We never had a problem before but you never know. Anyhow, later that night hubby's truck was stolen!! We got it back a few days later. It was found about 100 miles away with only a broken window. But everything in it was gone. Bikes, scooters and even my daughters car seat.. Along with the stereo and all his cd's. Needless to say this was not the end of it. The kids have had several things come up missing in the past years. One time I caught a teenager taking off with my son's skateboard that he left in the middle of the yard. I took off after him and he dropped it and took off running.

Did you make a report at the police station?? Sometimes kids will take off with them and dump them off somewhere else. We got one bike back that way.
