YAY!!!!! I mailed my letter of intent this morning after Ephram got on the bus for his last day of public school! Our county social worker (whose own daughter is homeschooled) asked that I just inform the school of our intent also, just so they don't report him truant come August. So I plan to check him out early (it's only a half day anyway) and just take them a copy of our letter of intent for their files too. So I'm off to go check him out and then to the library for some books.
HOORAY!!! I did a letter of intent too....and that was that! Every day of a new adventure is awesome!!! YAY!
Yay for you! I was wondering when I should do mine. My son's last day of K is June 3rd and then we will begin 1st grade in Aug. I'm so excited!
Yeah I called our county social worker and he suggested filing at the end of this school year instead of the start of next, just so the school doesn't put him on roll, count a kid that won't be there into class sizes, report him truant, ect And of course, I just couldn't wait! LOL Our "official official" school year starts Aug 1-as stated on our letter of intent. Our school years will run from Aug 1-July 31 each year. But our fall semester will start Aug 16 actually. But the paperwork is filed, so I feel official already! LOL We're gonna take a week off and relax (which works out great cause I have medical issue that is just draining me and making me useless right now) then after a week off we'll introduce our morning routine, and when he's ready, we'll start a couple of unit studies. I'd like that period to be 2-3 weeks, but I know he's really excited about one of the unit studies, so he may want to start sooner, we'll just have to see how I feel....
Congratulations!!! You will not regret this decision. I thank God often that I am able to be a Homeschool Mom. It's so rewarding and the time you get to spend with your children is priceless. So happy for you!
