Another link. This one is to "101 Scientific Facts and Foreknowledge:"

    http://www.eternal-productions.org/101science.html

It has thought-provoking statements and questions pertaining to things like this:
Which came first, proteins or DNA?
    Origin of major language groups
    Animal and plant extinction

Though the Bible was not designed primarily as a scientific text, wherever it makes factual statements, they are correct historically and scientifically like this quote from the site exemplifies:

    86. The Pleiades and Orion star clusters [are] described (Job 38:31). The Pleiades star cluster is gravitationally bound, while the Orion star cluster is loose and disintegrating because the gravity of the cluster is not enough to bind the group together. 4,000 years ago God asked Job, "Can you bind the cluster of the Pleiades, or loose the belt of Orion?" Yet, it is only recently that we realized that the Pleiades is gravitationally bound, but Orion's stars are flying apart.

I hope you have a thrilling adventure studying science and noting how true science correlates with God's Word.

We get a subscription to Creation magazine to help us really understand some of the things we don't understand. In each magazine they have an article for children that we have our children read. I like both Creation Ministries and Answers in Genesis. We are going to try AiG's science curriculum this year.

Also, up until Darwin came up with evolution, people didn't really question Genesis 1, they just took it literally. When children read that it took God six days to create the world, they believe it, so right now we don't spend a whole lot of time trying to convince them about 6 days since to them it seems weird that you wouldn't believe the words God wrote. Once they are firmly cemented in their faith, we will introduce evolution as a theory/religion that's goal is to pull people away from God. I have strong opinions here, so I will stop there :)

I think there are topics that cut both ways.

Young Earth Creationism is "hurt" by the rock strata
    - google "Grand Canyon rock layers"

but evolution has some scientific daggers into the heart also--
    chirality
    lack of a continuum
irreducible complexity (stuff impossible to ever have evolved)

bottom line sometimes we just say . . .

"I do not understand all the details but the Word
say "thus and so" and someday scientists will discover
more facts or understand more theories and then everyone
will believe it the Bible way. For now I am content to wait."
