If you have plans set or if you have a general idea please share. I love to see what others are doing. Sometimes I learn about curriculum choices I didn't know existed.

Our summer plans are in my siggy-come Aug our plans are...

For our required Subjects.... (1st grade)

Reading: We'll be using clicknkids for phonics and spelling and lots of read alouds I'm not going to push him to read this year.

Language Arts: We are using this unit study on farming (science too)
and MAYBE this for grammar, though I'm not sure we'll even do grammar this year...

    Math: Total Math 3

Science: will be at co-op at least through Dec. He'll be doing Apologia Zoology 1

Social Studies: also at co-op. He'll be doing a unit study on explorers-civil war

    Now for the extras:
PE/Health: play group, cub scouts, outside play, yoga, pilates
Spanish: LiveMocha (link is fixed now!)
Bible: What I throw together. Daily Devotional, memory verse weekly, Bible stories, ect I'm looking forward to doing some of these mini books too
Life Skills: Cub Scouts, Chores, Gardening, Animal Care, ect
Arts & Crafts: He'll take a co-op class, plus we'll work lots of arts and crafts into other subjects

I'm considering doing a unit study on the book of virtues but I'm not sure. It's mostly lapbooking activities for his age so it may be fun.

ETA:We'll supplement with other free resources as needed and as many online games and Netflix movies as we can fit in, cause that's how my DS learns well.

Sorry Maria, link is fixed now :) It's a free site to learn a new language. I haven't explored it fully yet, but did some and it seems great.

I like that you record yourself speaking (if I can figure out how! LOL) and it then asks native speakers to critique you. I've done this for a few people learning to speak English as a 2nd language.

It was recommend to me twice in one week. It looks really awesome. I'm very excited about it.

LOL you know me, if it's free I'll find it! LOL

I will have a 1st grader and a 3rd grader. Unless otherwise noted the things listed are for both my boys. Planning is still in progress though.

    Bible and Missions:

We will be looking in depth at the types and shadows found in the old covenant as well as reading 10 biographies of well-known missionaries in Asia. We will continue with praise and worship time, memory work, and practice looking up Bible texts.

    History and Geography:

We will be looking in depth at ancient cultures around the globe up until the time of ancient Rome using living books and activities.
We will do a general overview of the plight of children around the world before continuing to an in depth study of India, Thailand, and China using living books and activities.
Map reading: Informal activities to learn how to read maps and atlases.

    Math:

The boys will continue with their math studies. We plan to use Singapore math as well as supplements.

    Language Arts

Literature: My third grader will listen to classic read alouds. Our tentative list is Kim, Ben Hur, Moby Dick, Helen Keller Story of My Life, Huckleberry Finn, Ring of Bright Water, The Prince and the Pauper, and Up From Slavery. My first grader will listen to a large amount of picture books as well as chapter books like Just So Stories, Wind in the Willows, Lassie Come Home, Heidi, and James and the Giant Peach.

Reading: My third grader will read Alice in Wonderland, 20,000 Leagues under the Sea, The Hobbit, A Christmas Carol, The Pearl, The Invisible Man, Uncle Tom's Cabin, and Ben Hur. My first grader will continue with Sonlight grade 2 readers and then move on to chapter books like My Father's Dragon.

Spelling: 3rd grader Finish Sequential Spelling 1 and move on to Sequential Spelling 2

Handwriting: 3rd grader Italic Level D, 1st grader Italic Level C

    Vocabulary: Rummy Roots

Phonics: 1st grader will complete Explode the Code online

Michael Clay Thompson Language Arts program: 3rd grader Island level

Informal language arts: 1st grader (blogging, silent reading) Since my first grader loves to write I will give him more time for blogging and reading books of interest. I'll wait till second grade before I start grammar.

    Science:

We will look in depth at cells, the human body, genetics and microbiology related to human diseases using living books, a microscope, and experiments. The third grader and first grader will look at the same topic, but with different depth and resources. The third grader will also continue with his online astronomy course as well as his independent studies online.

    Art:

We will look at five different artists and their work as well as have time for free expression.

    Music:

We will start guitar lessons and continue with music theory using Music Ace. We will also look at the music of five classical musicians as well as five modern musicians or musical groups.

    Typing

The third grader will use a Mavis Beacon typing program.

    Foreign Languages
Mandarin: Continue with Rosetta Stone Mandarin and start Chinese Made Easy for Kids
Greek: Hey Andrew Teach Me Some Greek Level 2
    Arabic: Continue with Alif Baa
French: Nallenart L’Art de Lire Level 1

Yeah, well, I thought I was going to have a ninth-grader next year, but she wants to be with more kids her own age... even if it means going back to the sixth grade! (I don't know where she'll be placed there, and she hasn't taken a test yet, but sixth grade is a possibility).

So as of right now, I'll have only two students - one 13yob working on 2/3/4 levels, and a 7yog working on 2nd grade. But then, we never know if suddenly two or three will come out of the woodwork totally unexpectedly, and then there would be four or five...

For the 2nd grader, we're going to start the year finishing up the first grade Bible, reading, science and social studies we didn't have time to get to - she only came in February of the first grade last year so we focused on LA and Math. When those are finished, probably just move on to the Bible 2, but Pathways Reading 2. Not sure about science or history after finishing the first grade ones - there's time to figure that out later. I haven't made up my mind yet whether we'll do CLE LA, which I'll have to buy, or R&S English, which I have on the shelf. If she does the R&S, she'll do CLASS 2 spelling, and maybe a Pentime for handwriting. Math will be CLE, definitely. And Draw Write Now and some other craftsy stuff.

For the 13yo, we're going to finish the R&S 2 reading that we were doing for Bible, and the R&S 2 phonics, and the CLASS 2nd grade American history. He's ready to begin CLE 4 math. For reading, we'll finish Pathways 2 (the third book of it), then we'll finish the CLE 2 (last two units), before moving on to the Pathways 3. The comprehension/thinking is simpler than that required by CLE. After - or perhaps while - finishing the American history, I think we'll take up the R&S 3 study on Communities, and take lots of local field trips - as we read about the post office, we'll go visit ours, the fire station and visit ours, the town hall and visit ours, etc. -- maybe some in surrounding communities too just for variety. And Draw Write Now. Probably a Pentime. CLASS 3 for spelling.

Lately, I was thinking of Considering God's Creation, and doing both kids together, since it's multilevel. Either that or just do some lapbooks on science topics. I love the R&S science books, but this doesn't seem to be a good match for this particular 13yo. He is progressing with reading, and math is his best subject, and he did well with the R&S reading (for Bible), English 2 and spelling 2 last year, but he's just not getting the science. Maybe more hands-on would be better. I've never done lapbooking before, but maybe this is the year......

I'm still working out the details, but here is what I have so far:

I have two boys who will be ages 6 and 9 (kindergarten and third grade) when we start school. They will be doing most things together, different amounts of writen work based on ability.

    Social Studies:
Galloping the Globe as a framework, lots of reading about countries and people, create notebooks with information learned

    Science:
Considering God's Creation (not sure yet if we will coordinate it as suggested in GTG or just do it in order), learning about animals and habitats of the countries we are studying, notebooking information learned

(This will be our first year trying notebooking, but I am hoping it will be a good fit for us and both GTG and CGC use it so we are jumping in.)

    Art:
Seasonal projects or projects from our science and social studies

    Cooking:
Cook a meal from each country we learn about from Eat Your Way Around the World, helping with other fun cooking projects

    Math:
    BJU Math K5 for K
    Horizons Math 2 for 3rd

    Language Arts:
Literature is covered in suggestions in GTG
Explode the Code 1 for K (maybe 2 also depending on how things go)
    ETC 6 and 7 for 3rd
Spectrum Reading (Little Critter) K for K
Spectrum Reading (Little Critter) 3rd grader needs to finish level 2 (reading is not at grade level) I'm hoping that when he finishes this he will be ready for books suggested in GTG.
    www.readingeggs.com
    www.starfall.com
Spelling and grammar are still up for debate

    Music:
Curently we have been doing nothing. I am thinking about http://www.pianimals.com/

    Bible:
Stories and memory work from Church
    Adventurer Club Requirements
Some vereses suggested to go along with books suggested in GTG

    P.E.:
    Mostly outside play
    Adventurer Club

Adventurer Club is our church's scout type program for kids K-4 grade and will also supplement life skills, health, camping, safety, science, etc...
