DD is attending a hands-on, science-based summer camp this week called "Camp Invention". I'm wondering if/how I could count some of the time she's there for school hours. (In MO we count hours rather than days.) We receive a newsletter daily describing some of the day's activities and projects, and they will have an "Inventor's Showcase" on Friday where we'll be able to take pictures of their inventions, etc. Is there anything else I would need to do for documentation to in order to be able to count it? The camp lasts 6.5 hours each day (including lunch time).

I can't post links yet, but you can google "Camp Invention" for more info and locations.

Definitely count it. I don't know how much paperwork you have to turn in, but it can't be more than PA. We have to turn in a daily log -_-. I picked up a page off a website (www.askpauline.com, for you PAers) that has all of the subjects preprinted, and I just circle what is covered. Sometimes I'll write in details; last year DD went to GS camp. I circled music and science and PE for every day, I think. She wrote me two letters, so I circled 'writing'.

I would count it! I am required to teach music appreciation as one of the subjects and every sunday my kids learn different things about music in the childrens class so I count it!

Yes, I think you can count it. I was talking to my SIL on vacation and she was saying that we should count our vacation side trip to the aquarium. She works for a public school system and she said they send students there on field trips and count the 4 hours on the bus as well as the actual time in the aquarium as school time.

I would count it towards school. My oldest is taking four sports summer camps and I count those as PT.

If PS can count all the time spent lining up and walking to from here to there, you can count science camp!! I count every second spent outside as PE or Science (depends on what they are doing) and every second spent at our local nature center as school.

I'd count it. Then again, I count jumping on the bed for 10 minutes part of PE.....

But seriously-count it (and I would even count the showcase hours because at the ps they count the hours the kids stand at science fair projects as school hours.)
