They have weird/misleading ads and if you don't get there on THE day of the sale, forget getting the stuff you want. I've had other issues with them too.

Today I went to get things they had on sale and almost all that I wanted to buy was gone. What I needed more of they have limits on (2) or I would have bought more of them. Then it came to the paper deal. Their ads are totally misleading!! They have on the front page paper, regular price $4.99 -easy rebate $4.98, making the paper 1cent -- well that isn't true! When I went to check out the paper isn't $4.98 it's 7.98 - I asked if I got the right paper for the rebate and she said yes- I said, well you do the math 7.98 - 4.98= $3 not 1 cent. She said something that I still don't understand exactly what she said, but insisted that it would still work out to 1 cent. Ummm how?!? I've had this happen with the paper before it is a scam! It never works out and I never buy it, I don't know why I thought it would be different this time. I ended up wasting my time even going there. I didn't buy anything. My girls were upset because they color coordinated folder colors by subjects (LOL they got bored waiting for me to find all the stuff -- I couldn't' find anyone to help me on the sales floor either)

I've had issues with the copy center too, when I have massive amounts or a lot of color things to print I just go there to save on my ink. Well it never fails the first page is never right because they don't make it clear on exactly how the pages go in the copier (long side on top or long side on side)
Don't bother asking an associate either, I did that the last time and she said, "yes it goes this way" made the copy and half of it was cut off because it went the other way  there went another 50 cents for something I can't use.

Am I the only one who has such a time with them?? I'm about to say forget it altogether and go elsewhere.

I haven't had a lot of dealings with them, and therefore not a lot of problems, but I never get any of the $.1 items... ever. I get there the morning the sale starts and they are already cleaned out. It's a big scam, imo.

But, at least at my local store, the sales people are relatively helpful. I had one lady spend about a half hour with me last month trying help me work through the best way to assemble my portfolio for a class. She was great and so patient. And she wasn't the first to treat me like that.

That is good you had someone to help you, I can't ever find anyone willing, they are up there with Walmart as far as CS goes.

The thing of it is.. when the paper is supposed to be $2 or even $3 it never works out to be that cheap!

I went to my Staples yesterday. They did have the items but I had to really search for them. They were in a different section and the only reason I found them is because I overheard someone else looking for them as well.

On the paper, the price on the shelf was $6.99. I asked a sales person if I was looking at the right paper and I was. I asked him how it could be 1 cent if it started out at $6.99 instead of $4.99. He told me that it would ring up as $4.99 which it did. So after the rebate, if I actually get it, the paper really is 1 cent. I don't like how they do things at Staples but I am finding that they do have some very good products and do try to catch those on sale.

Yes, I even said, "do the math" she said something I seriously could not understand or even try to repeat it. It was that confusing and when I pressed how she said that is just how it works. The "M.O.D." - as they called them -was unavailable. just frustrating so that is why I left the whole basket for them to un do.

I have never had a problem with their copy center -- and I have them print a "sample" copy that I don't pay for to make sure it is all lined up correctly. If they don't print it properly, I don't pay.

I HAVE had problems with their sales and rebates. Once they had binders on sale for $1 each so I grabbed 6 of them, but you could only get 2 at a time! So I had each of my kids go through the line and buy 2 binders, while the cashier had to sit there and watch me do it! Plus I used my debit card each time, so they got hit with extra VISA fees! I understand limits, but 2? Really?

I would talk to the manager.

I ALWAYS read the fine print....I got caught with that .01 thing last year!

ALSO...GET YOURSELF A TEACHER CARD with Staples - all you have to do is show something that proves you homeschool (HSLDA Membership, Homeschool Teacher ID free from Homeschool Buyers Coop, letter of intent, etc). On the penny deals you can buy 25 of them (i just got 25 of those file folders)

I just checked my receipt on the paper, and I was only charged $4.99....and I already filled out my online rebate and my check will be for $9.96 getting me down to .01 each pack.

I would DEFINITELY complain to the manager. AND ask for rain checks on the stuff they run out of. They often run out the first day because people want to get those things cheaply.

On the Limits, too, have your kid check out right behind you with another one. I do that all the time - and they don't even look at me funny. :)

Maybe we have a good Staples near us...

I'm not found of Staples either. I had to search for the 1 cent folders and never found the pencils. The cashier did ask if I knew the pencils were 1 cent. Whrn I told her that I couldn't find them, she got them for me. I don't even bother with the rebate stuff. The limit of 2 on the binders really stinks!

I've always had an easy time with Staples. I can find what I need and they have been helpful. The rebates have been so easy to fill out online. I'll have the girls check out after me or just have them ring things up separately for the limits. I'm sorry you have such a difficult time with yours!
