nope that elementary school is a regular public school. Parents don't complain because they refuse to believe it happens in their school. the essay was done as an in class assignment, I doubt many of them knew it was ever assigned. I only knew because I happened to be in the hallway as it was being assigned. It dosn't get in the news. Kids don't go home ans recount all that they had to do at school that day. I ask Season about school and she says "It was ok". We only see what papers she sends home. All the work dosn't even get sent home... the "portfolio" trend is big right now where the teacher only sends home "examples" of kids work. You can't really know what is going on in classrooms unless you are there.

No, Becky they are NOT "wild, outlandish examples"! Open your eyes to what's going on around you!!! These things ARE HAPPENING today, and some of them are probably going on closer to you than you think. An interesting book to read is...dear, I can't find it right now (of course!!!). I think it is called "They Dare Not Call It Education", but don't quote me on that. I'll look it up if youj're interested. They give example after example after example from all across the United States and Canada. The parent in Massacussetts DID protest, and was arrested. They said that, since it was a "diversity" issue and not a "sexual" issue, the parents did NOT have the right to have their child opt out, nor did the school have to "notify" the parent. I have heard a former abortionist talk about how they go into the classrooms and the ways they get around the parents. She said that she has gone in KINDERGARTEN classrooms, with the school districts' blessing and no notification of the parents, either before or after.

And she told the Ker's what?? Like I said, I live in Utopia. That kind of stuff would not be tolerated here, it just wouldn't. A similar kind of thing happened in Baltimore not long ago and even parents in that awful place threw a fit. I forget the exact 'topic of diversity' but I do remember it had something to do with sex. I don't like B-More so I tuned it out. I do remember how angry some of the parents were.

Unfortunately, having a signed form to exempt her son did not stop the teacher from handing "pornographic" materials to my friends son, in an envelope which he could have easily opened and viewed, under the guise of sending the materials home to be used with the parent.

Parents cannot assume that they are aware of all of the materials being used by their children at school. There are sometimes materials in p.s. schools that are not allowed to be taken out of the school. I know that was the case when I attended p.s. high school.

The biggest problem here is that the harm has been done before the parent's know about it. I, personally don't want to be trying to clean up a mess after the fact.
